Baby Eagle

If you want a economical steel semi compact .45 and aren't hung up on 1911's, you can't go wrong with the Desert "baby" Eagle.

It has a full size grip and compact barrel. (10 round mag)

It is accurate and has a smooth DA/SA trigger. It is made by IMI in Israel from Tangfolio parts and is based on the 9mm IMF sidearm. It is indestructable, but heavy. Three dot sights

The blue steel can be had new for under $500 and a little over for stainless

My vote goes to,

[X] SIG

-or-

[X] HK

If you look around you should be able to find one used or barely used in your price range.

my vote

If you've not already picked up your XD40, wait a couple of months and the XD will be shipping in 45ACP!! I also own an XD40 and it is excellent, btw.

That said, I own a SA Champion (1911 in 45ACP) and it is, w/o a doubt, the single most accurate gun I own - and maybe, have ever shot. And if you've seen me shoot, that's saying alot, b/c I am not real good, so it has to be the gun :p

Really any 1911 in the Springfield Armory lineup is worth the $$. They've good price/quality, parts are readily available so upgrading is easy AND you get a Lifetime warranty...can Kimber or Colt or Ruger match that? No.

just my 2 cents....

Another vote for the Ruger P-90.

Don't have a P345 but have heard the bugs were worked out and it's a fine pistol....has a pic railed model available too.
