I have a Cowboy Companion SKS (same as the Paratrooper, except no bayonet & it has a scope mount). Paid $240 a couple of years back. I'm thinking about trading it in on something, and I am wondering what is a fair dealer price on a trade in? The gun is in pretty good shape. Numbers do not match, but it has been reliable. I've put about 400 rounds through it without a malfunction. Any info would be appreciated.

I'm in central-ish Ohio. The paratroops are running around 250-300 in this area. These are dealer prices, so figure trade-ins about 50 to 100 dollars less depending on the dealer. You are better off trying to sell it outright before you try to trade it in. I've been trying to find that guy at a local gun show trying to get rid of one for a decent price, they are few and far between. If I were trying to sell one outright, I would probably set the price at 250 or 275. I have looked them up on gunbroker and dealers are asking 400 to 500 for them. You will also notice that they are not selling a bunch of them. If you have a local gun show, try to sell it there. If not, post it here in the buy, sell, trade firearms section and see what happens. Just remember that you will have to figure shipping costs (and the pain that goes with shipping) and the fact that some states require that you ship FROM a licensed FFL holder to the buyers FFL holder. The FFL holder that you ship from may require a fee that you will be responsible for (don't forget your shipping costs on top of this) and the buyer will be responsible for the FFL fee on the other end. Hope this helps, heck- I might be interested, PM me if you feel like shipping it. (gives in to the temptation)

Thanks for the info.

akluver,

I will think about it and let you know.

You got it mi amigo. I totally understand with the shipping thing, been there done that and have the mental scarring to prove it. I would definately try the local thing first.
