What are the top 5 gun friendly states?

I like living in Arkansas and we don't have extremely restrictive gun laws, but we're not in the top 5 I don't think.

For starters, you can't carry concealed without a permit on your person. The new law everyone is referring to merely describes what a journey is for carry in your vehicle. It doesn't specifically state that, but I suspect there will be a test case soon that will go to the courts and we will find out for sure. However, even if there is and we as gun owners win, you have to be on a journey. You won't be able to go to the store in your own county of residence while carrying. People are saying it's Constitutional Carry now, but its not.

2. We do not have the option of open carry.
3. Signs carry the weight of the law here. If an establishment posts a "No Firearms" sign, you are violating the law if you carry there.

Like I said, we are pretty good, but for the above reasons, I wouldn't put us top 5.

I had a friend in Idaho and he told me it was fine there. He had a CCW. Unlike California which is terrible.

Surprisingly, WA state is quite good for gun laws.

Typical age and other requirements aside;

Fast and affordable carry permits. No mag restrictions.

Cans are legal.

FTF transactions are legal and unregulated. No restrictions on selling or buying at gun shows.

The only drawbacks are: Liberals push for gun laws every year. SBRs are illegal. And a 5 day wait on handguns if you don't have a carry permit.

I'm seriously unhappy with what Colorado has done this last year but aside from what I view as high cost it is one of the better and easier states to carry in.
I'll withhold judgement until there is a general election before I write them off as one of the better gun states. Until then I'm sitting on plenty of the restricted items.
I'd agree with Alaska, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming being the top states I'd move to if Colorado makes life untenable.

Outside of the Constitutional Carry states, Kentucky has some of the best firearms laws. Open carry, no waiting periods, no restrictions (other than the Federal ones) on what you can own. You can carry loaded firearms in your vehicle. You can carry a loaded handgun in your glove box or console without a CCW.

Florida has pretty decent laws re fireams, ownerhip and use. Wasn't too long ago the anti's names Florida "The Gunshine State".

From what I read some companies are pulling their business out of Colorado and moving to a more gun friendlier state in order to serve their customers better. Companies might be Ruger? or Magpul?

I always wondered how Vermont maintained their sanity amongst all the other New England states.

This is excellent. I imagine the cost of living there is alot less than California. Hopefully you guys don't get tornadoes or some kind of dangerous weather storms.

Unless I missed it there have been no mentions of Virginia. Virginia is a great state to be a gun owner.

THAT'S great we need to know which states are best and give them our business.

Virginia is currently pretty good but may go downhill fast depending on the outcome of this years gubernatorial election.

I missed this before my previous post but I completely agree. We all have to get out there and vote for folks who are strong 2A supporters!! Cuccinelli will be getting my vote.

Ha! We get tornadoes, ice storms, tropical storms (usually after they downgrade from hurricanes), and earthquakes.

Cost of living is some of the lowest in the nation.

Best::::::::
1. Arizona( open carry, ccw carry, constitutional carry, pro gun, pro conservative state, great hunting, cops are respector of the civilian gun owners)
2. Wyoming
3. Alaska
4. Utah
5. Kentucky

Colorado was great from about 2004 (allowing concealed carry) until 2012. Somewhere in there they also 'closed the gunshow loophole' nonsense too.

Colorado is falling to the liberals unless we take it back... which it appears Colorado voters finally woke up by ousting some officials.

Isn't Wyoming gun country? "Land of the free and brave".

Yep Colorado has taken a deep dive but there are very few states that don't have at least a few glitches in their perfect pro gun utopia.
Vermont is frequently touted in the top of free loving states yet they frequently send Bernie Sanders and Patrick Leahy to the Senate and I'm pretty sure both of them would disarm us at the drop of a hat.
Arizona continues to send John McCain who as of late is as wishy washy on gun rights as Diane Feinstien.
Texas, Kentucky, and many others have odd restrictions on restaurant carry and many don't allow guns in church, hospitals, public parks, and other restrictions that create such a maze as to discourage citizens carrying weapons.
I do like Colorado's simplistic carry regs.

Places off-limits when carrying:
1. Any place prohibited by federal law (e.g. federal offices or courthouse)
2. Any property of public school grades kindergarten through 12, unless the firearm remains inside a container in a locked vehicle
3. Any public building that prohibits ALL weapons which posts guards and permanent metal detectors at all entrances and requires all entrants to surrender handguns to security personnel before entry

Aside from that there are of course signs but they have little force of law so long as you remain discrete.
We have a few things to fix but as I've said, I am willing to wait till the next gen. election and see if this state has really had an awakening or not.
Iowa is a sleeper that I'm surprised hasn't received more attention. They still draw to much of a distinct line between permits and non but they took a quantum leap when they went shall issue.

We get basically good weather here. It varies but nothing like what you speak of in Kentucky. The worst thing here is the high cost of living, overpopulation, traffic and gridlock, wherever you go you must wait in long lines and horrid stupid gun laws and lots of guns don't even make it here.

If you are referring to Washington State which is above Oregon they have some beautiful country up there north towards the Canadian border. However the worst thing I have heard about living there is the property taxes on a home can go up as much as 30% in a year maybe more.

Put Nevada in there as a good state. It's a shall issue, can have a handgun in the vehicle loaded and ready, No waiting unless it's your very first hand gun, no laws for or against open carry. If you're not stupid about pulling the gun from it's holster the police will usually not get nasty. Machine guns are legal if you are. No mag restrictions. Darn near a whole vacant state to shoot in. High percentage of CCWs in the (dang CA & NY move-ins) lib dominated highest population county of Clark, home to Las Vegas. Home of Harry Ried - sorry about that. Hot summers. See Arizona.

I live in Georgia and it's pretty good. I would remove the carry permit and allow constitutional carry and allow carry in a few more places (churches for example) but it's fairly lax here.
