What are your gun plans for 2016?

My wife and I are going to get our Texas LTC in 2016. I need to scope the rifle i bought six months ago. Already renewed my NRA Instructor and RSO credentials due in January.

Lever action .357.

  1. Lever action .357. Saw a nice Henry .357 Steel. Seems expensive for what I think it might be (Zamax?) but it was nice. Fit and finish were fair to good. Might be happier with a Miroku Winchester or a Uberti. I do like the Skinner peep sights that can be fit easily on the Henry but that's another $100. I have a Ruger 77/357 already and I love shooting that caliber from a carbine/rifle.
  2. Good leather for the revolvers I've got.
  3. Ammo.

Buy a G23
Convince the wife of the necessity of me purchasing an M1A (damn are they expensive)
Take the wife shooting more (at her request!)
Renew my NRA membership that I let lapse
Renew my GOA membership that I did not let lapse
Take 2 of the boys shooting this year, now that they are old enough
Reload more

My plans are very simple,,,

Shoot more often this year.

After my latest buying spree,,,
I have all of the guns on my "gotta have" list.

So this year the plans are to simply go shoot them.

Days ago bought a 'nib' basic Saiga .223: lots of fun.

If .223 ammo prices remain stable, will first buy approx. two cases of ammo, then buy an Atlantic Arms Zastava 'AK' in .223 this summer.

Pretty satisfied from the hardware side. Maybe a lever action .22 and a Sig 229 are on the lust list. The rest is practicing. Usually hit the range once a week and perhaps a course/s during the year.

I want to replace my current carry gun with something larger caliber and more reliable and add a backup pistol. I'm going to apply for my Wyoming Concealed Carry Permit so that I can carry when I travel. I'm going to pick up a battle rifle and a shotgun for home defense, and I might get a .22 pistol and rifle for target practice.

I might consider giving some guns as gifts, too.

I'm also going to join some pro-gun organizations. I'm not a fan of the NRA, but I like the SAF and the NAGR and IAPCAR. I'm going to join the local branch of the Liberal Gun Club and join them for some of their shooting events.

More competitive shooting. I slacked off a bit last year.

More reloading.

A return to hunting.

Voting.

Edit: I have a couple gunsmithing tasks I need finished.

I plan to up my range time with shotguns for sure. Looking to add a 28-30" barrel and chokes for the 1100.

The safe is getting full so I may thin out some of the accumulated hardware. I can see 4-5 long guns and 1-2 handguns finding another home.

Since the M+M HK 23e isn't probably going to happen, maybe something in a belt-fed for the M16 ...
