What brand of knife is this??

On first glance it looks like a Byrd Medowlark in black. There are some differences though. The Meadowlark is a back lock instead of a liner lock and it doesn't use a screw like that for the pivot and doesn't have the "flipper". Is it marked "Byrd" or "Spyderco" anywhere?

I could be mistaken, but I think you have a copy of a Spyderco/Byrd Meadowlark. You should post it over at Spyderco's forum to be certain. They have factory personnel participating over there and they will be able to tell you if you have an unauthorized copy or a very early version.

I have to agree........funny......... I thought it might be an "older" knife but it seems to be of modern production so you should be able to find it without difficulty.

No and no.

I didn't buy this knife.
I found it.
It had that logo on it and I just wanted to find out what it was.

It's an unauthorized "copy" of a Byrd. These typically come from China without any indication of manufacture. They're usually not equivalent in quality to what they're copying, but sometimes will surprise you and be perfectly serviceable knives.

You're out nothing and you have a handy knife using most of the features of a well designed folder.

What about an inexpensive holster???

You can get four for free at Dillards' or JCPenny's when you buy a pair of jeans. :)

I should clarify: I don't mean for my joke to seem rude or crass. It is perfectly safe to carry a folding knife in a pocket; the likelihood that it will open and cause injury is next to null.

Check with your cell phone store and see if anyone has left some small cell phone carriers that they can give to you.

Alternately, you could rob a pocket clip off of a cheap folder and mount it yourself if you were good with tools and could drill and tap for the small machine screws to mount the clip.

OR you could order a clip for $4.00 from knifekits.com - http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=60_101_105&products_id=537
