What calibers would you have Wincheste(FHN) chamber the Model 70's in

As far as models go I am with ColeK,tho' I also like the idea of bringing back the feather weight in all Stainless. Add a nice varmint/target profile.

Stainless/Synthetic,Stainless/Laminate,Stainless/Walnut...Classic Satin Blue/Walnut.

Back to caliber,35 Whelen is sweet too.I am having a 30-06 FW rebarreled to it right now.Should have it back in a week or two.

I already have one, and don't need another.

Do those two statements necessarily follow?

I just bought a Model 70 in .30-06, which I already have in another rifle...:)

ArmedBear--I agree the 338-06 is awesome, same for the now "legit" 338 Federal(also like to see that in their line up).

338 and 35 are good for different reasons to a point, and I love 'em both...338 for more distance,35 for COAL/Weight takes it tho'. I never can deside so I get both.

Please offer every rifle in a choice of walnut or laminate with blued or SS

Featherweights: 6MM, 260, 264, 6.5x55, 7wsm, 358 win , 376 steyr

Classic: 6XC , 6MM , 338-06 , .35 Whelen , 376 steyr - I'd LOVE to see what the Steyr is capable of from a 24" tube.

Varmint type : 6XC, 6MM, 270WSM, :evil:7WSM could sell like hotcakes with the label - " Counter Sniper Long Range"
I hope they get the customer service right.:cuss:

In such a short thread so far, I think it's amazing that 3 want .257 Roberts, 6 want 6.5x55, 5 want 7x57, 2 want 8x57 JS, and 4 want 9.3x62.
It would seem that there is a demand for these fine old cartridges.

-Left Hand Actions!
Winchester could dominate a thin market...Regular calibers like .308 as well as the wsm's

-SS/Blue & Wood/Synthetic options (i'm partial to Stainless and wood)

-An iron/open sight factory option for the Featherweight

-.416WSM

I'd love a LH Feathweight carbine (18-20"bbl) with irons..stainless and walnut

I'd like to see the featherweight in .257 Roberts...And make the featherweight a real featherweight!! 21" barrel, shorten that lovely schnabel forend an inch or two, and a 13-13 1/2" LOP

I would like to see 9.3x62 in a compact light / featherweight

9.3x62 here. It has become my favorite cartridge for whitetail deer.

I would buy a new one if they chambered it in 9.3x62! Can't really understand why the American rifle manufactures are asleep at the wheel on the excellent 104 year old 9.3x62 cartridge. It is interesting to note a guy in Australia bought a new Ruger bolt action in 9.3x62 within the last year. But it seems Ruger will only export the 9.3 x 62. None for the US.

It should be noted that the 9.3x62 is already factory loaded by Norma, Lapua, Prvi Partizan and Nosler. And if you handload Swift sells 300 grain bullets for the 9.3 if you need some heavy weights.

Would like to see a new Model 70 stainless in 9.3 x62 for Elk and Moose hunting and I would imagine they would sell more than a few in Alaska and Canada for Moose hunting.

Already have three 6.5x55 rifles otherwise I would add that one. But a 6.5 WSM would also get me to buy a new Model 70 rifle. So would a 6.5 - 284 Norma. Interesting to note Savage is coming out with a 6.5 x 284 Norma in a hunting rifle soon. The Model 111 long range hunter with synthetic AccuStock in a 1 in 8 twist.

.257 Roberts, 6.5x55, 7x57, 9.3x62

Any of those & I might consider one. Otherwise I'll stick to rehabilitating milsurp Mausers.

.26-06 would be a nice option, expecially for the featherweight.

How many of you have seen the new Winchesters in person? I hear they look good w/ fit & finish. Do the short action rifles actually have shorter actions? Sorry about the thread drift. :uhoh:

I bought one, and I've seen a lot of others.

They do look good. The triggers are way beyond good. Mine did 3-shot <.7MOA groups (1.25" @ 200 yards) the first day out, after initial break-in of 20-25 shots.

The short actions are short actions, yes.

AH CRUDD!! Just noticed that the all stainless walnut are Shot Show models and do not come in .300WM:(...Well,if I can locate one I'll be going for .30-06:) and maybe .308:scrutiny:.

Hmmm...4x .30-06 then have two made into a .338-06,.300WM AND 9.3X62...
4x .308... .338Fed.,.358Win. and .260Rem.

A guy can dream right?

I'd love to see Winchester (or Remington, Browning, Tikka, Kimber, or Weatherby) make a left-handed .280 Rem. Just because sometimes lefties don't feel like using a 30/06 or 270.
