Gun Accumulation Syndrome. I certainly suffer from GAS and often wonder why (I do have a tendency to go overboard with things). But I've seen people on the net say they have or posted pictures of their 50+ collection of the same gun. I would ask why? but I think I already know most of the answers (and I know some people think more than one gun of a specific type is excessive and have to answer that some question about 3 or 4 1911s and Ruger MKIIs). Nonetheless, doesn't it get to be a little overwhelming at times? I don't know, just wondering what peoples' thoughts were.

The next one will always be, "The One". Then I'm happy with it for a while, sometimes a short while, sometimes a long while. Then the fever sets in for myriad reasons and I set out for the next "The One". In truth, it's a journey, not a destination. You just have to enjoy the process. I've been trying harder to enjoy what I have (not just guns), rather than lamenting what I don't. Because in the end, "things", even guns, are not what makes one happy.

Blame it on the bumper sticker "The one who dies with the most guns....WINS"

Whatever it is, I suffer from a terminal case of it.

Thank goodness you don't suffer from ECAS ( Exotic Car Accumulation Syndrome )!

Can you imagine how much that would cost you!!!

whatever the item is, collectors have a slight mental disorder. At least ours go bang :D // I have a buddy who collects old wood boats. Many have sunk :what:

That post describes me perfectly!

The deep blues ones and the silver ones do it to me. Pretty wood gives me G.A.S. as well.

After a time, you don't even make believe any more.

G.A.S.? B.E.A.N.S. Sorry, had to. One always has to look at the application of their collection, be it plinking, carry, home defense. I suffer from it and have one of each but it took a few to finally decide on which ones are keepers. My condition has leveled off somewhat for now. (Operative words-"for now").

Some people are collectors. They have a hobby that that please their sense of accomplishment. Be it tools of s specific type, glass insulators, ham radios or in our case guns. I see it as nothing more than an avocation,

I buy firearms as tools for specific purposes. Unfortunately, after having let some go that I have regretted,..I have adopted the poilicy of once here,..they stay 'til til I die. As a result,..the stash just keeps growing. I cannot understand why.......

:)

I think mine are breeding when I close the safe door. That's how I keep ending up with more. One day my AR15 and one of my Mosins are going to hook up and I'll open up the safe door to find this staring at me:

what causes G.A.S.?

C'mon , that is simple , we all know that TACOS cause G.A.S !!

( Taking All Calibers Outside Shooting)

I think it's the muzzle blast. All the AWESOMENESS escapes and when you drag it home and into your safe ... it breeds, like fungus spores.
Also, that's how gunshops get new weapons.

What about H.A.S? (Hobby Accumulation Syndrome) I have more and more hobbies, guns being the newest. I race cars, motorcycles, trucks, photography, audio, metalworking, composites, and so on... I belong to more forums than I can count. But I can say that when the negative cash flow goes from a flood to a trickle I will add an CZ-SP01 and I'm sure a few more loud toys given time.

my wifes enchalada's mmmmm so good

all joking aside.for me its having a gun for every day of the week to carry, and soon one for evey day of the month!:p

I've bee told it's healthy to get G.A.S while you're still single ;)

Right now my collection stands at lucky 13. I've got a little surplus left in the toy fund so I'm mulling over whether to pick up a new XD with 8 mags for $450. Honestly the reason it's become easier to pick up firearms are the gun trading websites popping up in different states. As long as you're able to say no to a deal when you don't really need to spend the money then I don't see there being any problem.

Bush beans, of course.... oh, gun accumulation syndrome.... GAS, new one... okay. How about liking to shoot and having more money than you need for day to day life.
