What color is the 2nd Amendment?

Hmm, quick sketch, but you get the idea. More of the "comedy option" if you will. :D

i have to say i like the desert camo idea. it doesn't say "hunter" like other camo, and support the troops already has yellow. maybe some sort of camoflage that isn't hunter camo, but isn't a current troop camo? like urban gray camo?

I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan of the camo, but silver/gunmetal/grey or the bullet band are awesome. Some of the vendors on ebay claim to be able to do any color... do I smell a group buy? Let's decide on a color and I'll see if I can find someone to make them. If you guys think it might be easier, we can start a new thread with a poll to vote on color.

Now that we're narrowing down on the color (gray or silver) we need to start thinking about the text that goes on it.

I'll throw something out to start...

On the top of the ribbon (in the arch) how about the letters RKBA

As far as text on either side of the ribbon I'm still throwing that around.

'Support our 2nd Amendment' ? Is that too long?

Cacique, I was also thinking RKBA at the top or on the right side. Any more text than that and they usually look cluttered. I think this site would probably be a good place to have them done http://www.magnetamerica.com/custom.html For color, we could do a medium gray in the middle with a dark gray (gunmetal) border. The cost of packaging and shipping should be pretty low, I'll look at Sam's and the office stores tomorrow for bulk quantity heavy envelopes. Bring on the feedback.

I emailed the custom department for information on custom colors and fonts and whether or not graphics could be used. I'll let everyone know what I find out.

No offense to geek with a .45, but I'm not sure that blue is out of the question. I haven't see a big movement to infringe online speech (except kiddie porn and obscenity) nor any use of blue ribbons to mean anything in particular in the general public. Sorry, but red or black are out of the question -- already taken in a big way. Black is in wide use for POW/MIA.

But the ground swell seems to favor a silver shade -- and who I'm I to question that?

My thoughts: "RKBA" is to cryptic. It's not supposed to be an "inside" thing or a secret sign. "Support Our Second Amendment" sounds kind of selfish. Like: Support Our Cause, Not Yours. I'd much prefer "Restore Second Amendment Rights" even though that is kind of long. It is inclusive, and represents a civil rights cause.

The desert camo or urban camo kind of say "veteran" or "gun nut" or "mall ninja" or Rambo wanna be." The 2A is about the militia, but the message is easily lost if not extremely simple.

mattz357, are you running with this?

Whether or not I can compeltely do this myself depends on demand. I don't have a printer, so addressing all the envelopes would be very time comsuming. I would be willing to organize, take payment, order, package and ship, but I would need someone to volunteer to print address labels. I could make a list in MS Word or a similar program, email it to someone else and they could mail the labels to me. If this seems like too much work, I'll do all the research and setup and then pass it off to someone with more experience/resources. If anyone is a photoshop wizard, how about a couple of sample designs???

Okay, it took me a half an hour to make this and I have NO idea how to add text. I pictured it a little darker, but I couldn't figure out how to make it any darker. What do you think?

I have to agree with you Henry. My car's vanity plate is 'CA RKBA'. Even the folks that I work with who know me fairly well could never understand it.

Actually, they couldn't understand it even after I explained it to them. Sigh.

Looking at the sample ribbons on the site above (the Magnet America site) make it look as though RKBA across the top loop would fit quite well with a 2nd Amendment statement on the ribbon.

mattz357,

I like your 'shall not be infringed', too.

Here is my offering. Ribbon 2nd A

We'd be interested in helping on the marketing side, too (my wife is currently doing Internet marketing so is set up to handle on-line payments, shipping, etc)

I think I'm going to post about this on other forums and give everyone a chance to get in on it. I frequent Glocktalk, S&W Forum, SIGForum and TFL, if anyone is a member at another forum that I didn't think of, please post there. I don't want to make any money on this, so I'm not offended if someone else is better equipped to handle it, but I'll help in any way that I can. This is great!
