We must not forget that the recent Heller decision left the door open to "reasonable" regulations of gun ownership. We should also remember that what the Brady bunch and Mayor Bloomberg consider "reasonable" would disarm the vast majority of Americans, or make the costs and red tape to own and use guns prohibitive for large numbers of people. What about bans on various types of ammunition? Since Heller left the door open for "reasonable" regulations, we need to redouble our efforts, since the anti-gun folks are going to re-double theirs.

Look for some of the following to be proposed:

Limits on the amount and type of ammunition that we can buy/possess.

Continued efforts to reinstate the AWB (after all, we could still own bolt, lever, pump, and singe shot rifles).

Continued efforts to limit magazine capacity.

DC has announced that the only handguns that will be allowed are revolvers.

Efforts to "pack" the SCUSA with anti-gun left-wingers after a couple of the current conservative justices retire. We could lose everything that we just won within 5-6 years.

Other attacks are likely using the "reasonable regulation" loophole that the recent opinion left.

Just because we won a victory with Heller, we must not relax our efforts. The Brady crowd is already at work (google their website and check it out) to make Heller a hollow victory with no practical effect. I would suggest that each of us contribute some money to NRA-ILA, NRA-PVF, and the SAF--not to mentions SAS, JFPO, and other pro-gun organizations. Rest assured that much more litigation will be necessary, and Heller doesn't necessarily mean that we will win it all.

For these reasons, I would suggest that every member of this board do the following:

1. Continue to monitor proposed legislation/regulation at all levels, state, local, Federal
2. Keep on trying to recruit new folks into the shooting sports
3. Make one or more of the donations that I suggested above
4. Contact your state and US Representatives and Senators
5. Watch for editorials that need a reply
6. Continue to try to educate others, especially media types, about guns and gun owners
7. Invite a non-shooter to go to the range, and pay their way.

Like the old adage says: "Eternal vigilence is the price of liberty."
