What did you see at the gun shop today?

Tons of guns in two different shops on Saturday.
If you like Walther P99s and live in the Memphis (TN) area, a really nice used 99 is in Classic Arms, Cordova TN. It is Striker-fired...but can be DA or SA.o_O " No way!"..."Yes, Way" (Millenial dude).

But for saving money on ammo I use the Internet: Ammoseek, the search engine.

Last Friday I stopped in at an LGS that's about 180 miles from home, but used to have an amazing inventory of new and used guns. It was gratifying to see that the inventory is nearing its former size, and many of the guns were priced reasonably. I found a Taurus 856 that felt good and operated fine, but I try not to buy on impulse. As wife left for supper at a nearby Italian restaurant, she announced that $2000 was my limit, so I had to check out the CZs on the way out.

Hi...
Went on a gun shop tour a few days ago.
Found a used consignment nickle plated S&W Model 25 .45Colt for $1200 at one shop.
Another shop had a used New Model Super BlackHawk. 44Magnum for $1400 and a used S&W Model27 for $1200.

I have too many expensive home improvement projects going on right now to be buying another firearm unless it is something really special, so they were all still there when I left.

Nobody had anything else of real interest unless you are looking for a plastic fantastic 9mm, which I am most definitely not doing pretty much ever.

S&W Model 69 44 Special with adjustable rear sight for $850.
S&W Model 686 Plus with 4-inch barrel for $750.
Saw them today at this GS: https://www.uncoiledfirearms.com/
Lot of other great revolves I could not remember all the data on.
The 686 Plus is gone today. Model 69 still there.
They also have a pallet of ZSR 9mm ammo in 1000 round boxes for $300
Is ZSR a brand or a type of ammo?

Saw this beauty at my favorite gun shop today. Tag is consignment for $750. AK-M. Tempting but way too powerful for home defense in town and too much money just to have a cool gun.

Day befor Yesterday. Two counters full of handguns. From expensive to cheap.
The one that caught my eye? Not the most expensive by far.
A Sarsilmaz b6. I don't know. $325. It just caught my eye and I liked it. Think I'm gonna have to have one.

I went into the local pawn shop this week, to take a look at an old mauser they had in there for some time.

I checked it over, still good rifling, if a bit dark. The safety worked good, in all positions. Lots of inspection markings, 41 stamped on the top of the receiver, etc.
Stock forearm was cut down, guessing "duffel bag cut" I'm guessing. the rest of the stock was been thinned, also guessing trying to lighten what was left of the stock. No steel butt plate.

So, I asked what he was asking for it, thinking...maybe around 3-400 bucks. Nope!

He goes into his speel of "he knows what he's got", and thinking of selling it for $1000, as is. He's not in a hurry to sell it.
Then he starts talking how it was "Made in an Austrian concentration camp during WWII", had stamped markings under the barrel (which he decided not to show me) that it had
belonged to the infamous 'SS' unit at said camp.

So...I left it there. Its going to be there for a while.

Today I saw what appears to be a "newspaper" Mosin from the Spanish Civil War, complete with "Made in USSR" import marks at my LGS.
Surprisingly, it was in very good, original condition.
I'm thinking on it... .
What's a newspaper Mosin?

They have an S&W #442 J-frame used for a little over $400 on sale. I have a 642, but like the idea of the black frame on the 442. I carry the 642 all the time and the only drawback is the silver back strap at the butt end would more likely show if my pocket bows open when I bend over to look at something in a store. The black one would be way better. I could trade in for it, or keep my 642 for range practice and only shoot the 442 a little to ensure it works well. Both are essentially the same gun, but for the color and that the 442 is about 3 oz heavier maybe because of the cylinder is carbon steel vs stainless steel for the 642. I tried painting the back strap on my 642 but it wears off pretty quickly. Assume the black frame would stay black.

If it is still there next time I stop in (hopefully tomorrow) I might grab it.

Well I did it. He gave me $290 for the 642 that has about 500 rounds through it and I had to pay $100 difference for the 442 which looks to have been shot a lot less. I paid $490 for the 642 1.5 years ago but with 500 rounds through it it is definitely a used gun. Helped the owner as he is moving the gun shop 3 hours north at the end of the month, so one less consignment gun for him to have to keep track of from his new location.

44 mag starline brass and 240 grain xtp's made a return to my LGS so I grabbed a packet of each

I am going to cheat for one post. I did not see this at a gun shop, well a brick and mortar gun shop, but this is unique (at least I have never seen it before), and rather clever marketing, though in the final analysis relatively useless as both rounds can be bought separately in better quantities, but just for kicks, this is what I saw.

Warning: Don't try the gasammo web page, it goes to a worse than spam site.

If money were no object I'd have grabbed one or both of these. Since I already have a .44 Magnum SA (Interarms Virginian Dragoon), I was not so tempted. Sorry about the photo quality, its my cheesy flip phone.
