What did you shoot today?

I neglected my M&P9 long enough and took it out today for some range time. I have some Gallant bullets loaded in 9mm with a minimum charge of W231 and they shoot very well from this pistol. The 10 went down in the first shot but the 7 took six more to hit it. I also tried some fast shooting. The local range won’t let you shoot from draw, so I started with the pistol in the bench, mag loaded and slide locked back. The drill was grab pistol, drop slide, and shoot three rounds in all in three seconds. The initial grip makes all the difference.

Well..... frustrating.
I had reassembled the "Aussie L1A1 on Imbel"'s FAL's gas tube correctly, with the bottom 'flat'/recess directly over the retainer pin (+ Correct gas plug position etc). I had disassembled it only because the gas tube's (knob) selector needed to run on #1 or #3 - and it depended on which of my west Euro ammo brands (new Lith. GGG or new Swiss Saltech: ---none are outsourced---). Should have left the rifle alone;), because it functioned in semi-auto.

But today even Less gas was available to push the piston-- it would hardly eject either ammo type, on the fully-closed gas selector setting : #0.

Will have a club member look at the gas system. He built a pair of FALs before I met him.

Shot 100 rounds 38spl in a well worn NY DOC trade in Model 10 loaded with 158gr Xtreme RNFP over 4.3 grains HP-38. Then I tried some 38spl158gr Xtreme RNFP over 6.2 grains HS-6 w/Win SPP that I had marked when I had a consistency problem with my Lee Auto Drum. It was giving me light drops occasionally when I checked against the beam scale. I thought I'd corrected the problem but after a couple of the first 25 shots sounded weaker & smokey with unburned powder flakes in the barrel I stopped before I stuck one. The beater Model 10 is my sacrificial lamb when I think I may have a potential squib problem.

Shot my Savage Desert Tactical 6.5 CM. Grandson shot his Bergara 6.5 CM and his Glock 43x mos. Chronograph on the ground did not work out well. Still not low enough. Next time he'll shoot out of the truck bed. 15 round PSA mags worked flawlessly.

I see your grandson is left handed. That chrono will never read correctly for him.
I think your problem here is that you purchased a right hand chronograph. You probably need to replace it with a left hand model.

Many people aren't aware there are two different ones.

Isn't the rifling reverse twist as well? You know, to offset the corona effect of the Earth's rotation and spin of the bullet......😜

Endured the road construction on US 53 in Wisconsin to get to my favorite range. Shot some .357” revolver bullets out of my 9mm Ruger PCC.

These are Rainier plated .357” 125 RN FP loaded with 4 grains of Bullseye. They’ve been very accurate in every 9 I’ve tried them in.

Shot well at 100 yards from the bench, but I shot poorly after taking the red dot off. No problem with the ammo or the sights, just was unsteady. Called it quits and drove home.

Was bothered by my poor shooting, so I put a 4x scope on the carbine and headed to my other range just a few miles away.

Shot much better, finished with a 3” group at 50 yards standing. Feeling better about my shooting now.

Indoor range, Colt GI 1911 and Rock Island GI 1911. About 175 rounds between the two.
Tried out different magazines in the Rock Island. It has had trouble in the past on empty magazines, as in I would have to rip the magazine out on occasion. Wilson Combat type 47 magazines eliminated the problem but wanted a real fix so replaced the RI slide lock with a Colt unit. Wilson combat 920 series, Colt, Ruger magazines all worked no problem.
Cleanup done in the basement to music. Wife doesn't appreciate the aroma of Hoppes #9.
