What do you consider a nicely rounded revolver collection?

one of each

everyone needs a quality .22 revolver, a snubby .38, a 4 inch .357 and a big boomer like a 44.

Perfection would be a Diamondback 22lr 4 inch or a Smith 17 4 inch. A Colt Detective Special and a Smith Bodyguard. A Model 27 and a Python. Add a 5 inch Model 29 and an 8 inch Anaconda and you have a damned fine collection.

Of course you would still need a model 13, and a 16 and a Cobra and a...
You get the idea

A .22 would be a must to any collection. I miss my Single Six Convertible to this day...
I try to get the basics covered, my small collection currently being a Smith Bodyguard Airweight, a Charter Bulldog, and a pair of Rugers. One being a blued GP-100 with a half-lug 6-inch barrel in .357 and the other is a 50th Anniversary Blackhawk in .44 Magnum. Now I would just have to find another Single Six to finish it for now.

So for one to have a bit of everything, go with a .22, one or two snubs, and some larger smokewagons in the big boomin' calibers. Although I do not see much reason for a .460 or .500 mag, they do find their niche in some people.

4.25" barrel???

I was always under the impression that the Canadian gun laws stated that a hand gun needed to have a barrel length of greater than 105 mm. That is around 4.14 inches, not 4.25. Did they recently change the law?

I'd go for a Ruger Single Six as your .22. The barrels are long enough, and you can even shoot .22 magnum, as long as you have the magnum cyclinder.

I'd say that a well rounded revolver collection would have at least the following:

.22
.357
.44 (if you're into this sort of thing. I am not)

I'd say you should have at least one single action, as well.

In the States, I would also argue that have a small framed revolver is a must. I'd either go with a Ruger SP101, or a Smith 642 (maybe even a Ruger LCR)

.357 magnum to carry, probably 4" or less barrel, something full sized like a 686 or the like.

A large bore hunting revolver, SA prefered by myself, I like the .454 casull round.

Colt SAA or quality clone

Small caliber double action, mine is a .327 federal Ruger Sp101.

A blackpowder cap and ball revolver, you aren't a real revo shooter unless you screwed with one of these.

A .38 snubbie
A full size .357
At least one .22 for plilnking
A single action.

You can get what you want, but I think all you need is a 44 magnum and a 22lr/22mag. You can do anything with a 44mag that you can do with a 357/38/41... whatever - and THEN SOME. If you reload the world is your oyster. I personally have 5 different loads for my 44. You can load whatever you like. Use the 22 for inexpensive plinking and/or backup.

A balanced revolver accumulation would include; a single and double action 22, a 357/38spl for general use, a small 38spl for carry, a 41 or 44 magnum revolver, and a 480 Ruger/454 Casull/500 S&W or the like revolver for hunting.

Buy good stuff, not cheap stuff.
