It's a military acronym: S pecial O perations COM mand,
used to refer to the SF /SEALS/ DELTA Force/ TF 160/ Air Force Special Operations Squadrons conglomerate. That's if you are/were in the military.
For most civilians? It's a coat of rust-proof super-duper baked on polymer coating, a light/laser rail, and a waterproof nomex ___________ (you fill the blank in ....... ) that is painted black.
They had to switch because the civvie world overused the word. Kinda like everyone saying "Fo shizzle." One you 60 year old grampa uses it, it's not unique anymor. Wonder what word they'll use after the "tactical" folks latch onto SOCOM?
Heh, "SOCOM!" is what the Springfield dealer says to the Winchester dealer when the Winchester dealer asks how things are going. IIRC, it's short for "Sold Our Crap Out, Mutha-@#%$#!"
"Like new" = was dropped in a lake and a scuba diver found it, so it's gonna be $59.95.
"Great shooter" = the only thing my ex-wife left me in the divorce settlement
"Rough but clean" = I just bought it for $10, I want to sell it to you for $30 and make a quick $20.
