What firearm fired today?

It was a Glock kind of day for me.I had recently built two 80% kits (G19 and G43) and wanted to run them through their paces. I also took my Glock G44 with me to run the 18 round ProMag magazines some more. It was a good day.

I had a couple of added bonuses on top of the great day shooting. I found all of my empty 9mm cases and picked up around 200 once fired 223 cases that someone left.

My new P365 had to go back to Sig when after 60 rounds the barrel hood was chewed up . The CS rep, William, was courteous and efficient . Sig Gunsmith de-burred the inside of the slide port and sent me a new barrel. Late yesterday I fired 120 rounds of various brands and no failures at all . Just the slightest inkling of an unusual mark on the hood . I won’t worry about it . I don’t think the finish can measure up to my HKs so I just need to expect less from Sig, I guess. I love the little pistol. It is very accurate with easy recoil to me .

We went out early today and lobbed a few out to 500 yards. I had ordered a CVA Paramount for a friend and he wanted to check it out to 400 yards. At 300 it is very doable and with a good solid rest I believe you could bust a deer out to 400. Pretty nice piece of equipment. He also shot his Ruger 77 280 and his Bergara B-14 7mm Mag. He is definitely ready for Colorado next month.

My Bergara 6.5CM still shoots sub-MOA out to 500. It is a mild load of H4350 pushing a 129gr Accubond LR. All 5 of my stadia in the Vortex BDC is on with this load. Since this gun is set up for reaching out I decided to set something up for my normal deer killing range. I stuck with the Creedmoor, but in a Mauser M18. Pretty pleased with the rifle. I stuck a Leupold VXII 3X9 on it in Leupold mounts. Two loads were around MOA so I will tweak them a little and see if it improves.

Yesterday I fired cz p09 40 cal, Glock 36, and Heritage rough rider 22 mag

Glock 43, Glock 19 and a new friend from church just bought himself a 9mm S&W shield and knows next to nothing about guns so he has been waiting for competent instruction, I applaud him for that as so many people overestimate themselves and get hurt and most certainly develop bad habits trying to go charging off half cocked thinking they know everything, so to speak. It's simple to pull the trigger but learning good form and developing good safety habits and perfecting your shooting skills to be swift and efficient is a highly nuanced endeavor that takes alot of experience, I know because I'm still learning too. He seemed to get that.

We met after work and had limited daylight and we did alot more chatting than shooting, very encouraged to see him very receptive and cautious to my safety instructions instead of showing attitude and annoyance, as some folks can get with repeated and seemingly obvious precautionary safety measures.

I was glad to lend my many years of experience to a new shooter, I'm not a credentialed instructor, but I can get him headed the right direction....

As an aside, it was sort of a lousy way to end the session when local PD showed up and reprimanded us a lil for shooting "after dark". In reality, we were leaving the range after dark, it was still fairly light out when I shot the last mag and we chatted for a good bit after and it was dark by the time the officer came. a quick demonstration to show different ammo has flash suppressive powders in the propellant, which he didnt know anything about and is something easily overlooked I think. If he is to defend himself in low light I thought since we were there I might as well briefly describe and give a quick demo, it was no big matter though, just not ideal. Other than that it was all good......

Went to the range today and had a great time. We shot numerous AR's and a friend brought out his .50 cal Barrett! Boy was that fun to shoot.View attachment 942922
To this day I've never shot a .50 BMG. Jealous. Our range doesn't allow .50 so I'll probably never shoot one unless I buy. I have got to shoot some cool guns just because I wound up at the range at the right place and time....... .50 is on the list though, just dont think it's really practical enough to justify buying one.

This is a "Glock 48" that I built, but didn't have an opportunity to fire until yesterday. Functioned perfectly, very accurate and felt very balanced in my hand. This will be my new EDC. As soon as the 15 round Shield Arms magazines are available, they will be added as well.

At a price tag above $7000 I won't be buying one either!

7x57mm Mowzer. 1893 type, converted (I think) to carbine. Managed to get rifle ballistics from the carbine. Did find out no matter what glasses I wear, the barleycorn sight system just does not get along with my eyes. Perhaps 'express' type sights with a shallow "V" rear and a bead front sight about the size of a ping pong ball?

Ruger Mark IV, standard, short, thin barrel. Used about 100 rds. to keep the large .22LR reserve....large.

VZ-58 Sporter via Czechpoint (has Czech lion stamp) and Gunbroker "Buy Now": used 80 rds. to maintain the Very large reserve of 7.62x39.

Don't know about you guys... but at least this guy likes her persuasive presentations of "my" VZ-58.

Coincidentally, she's a good friend of custom rifle designer Mark Serbu (Serbu Arms, Tampa, i.e. BFG-50A: $7,350), and his highly-skilled young daughter "50 CalVal", who builds guns in their factory.
Enjoy some 'spice' with guns----the Grim Reaper could be just around the corner.

Going out soon with a XDM 9mm Springfield with my reloads of Missouri Hi-Tek powdered coated powder bullets and with some new ideas for loading .54 cal Lyman Great Plains Rifle.

I fired two of these three this afternoon.

Top one is The Mrs. Mark III, then my Virginian Dragoon in .44 Rem. Mag. and at bottom, my Mark IV.
We were both shooting this at fifteen yards...

A swinging steel target(s) I slapped together a few years ago. (Gotta like reactive!)
The swingers weigh in at almost 7 & 1/2 pounds. The target is about 4 X 6 inches, a piece of cutting edge for a drag to groom snowmobile trails.

With near fullhouse .44 magnum, loads, one can spin these on the target stand. FUN!
It is fun to hit one while it is still swingin'. (Hang on!!!, you're going over the top again!):)

Edit to add...
Only shot 42 rounds of the .44 (even though I brought almost 300 rds. with)
Two loads: 200 gr. XTP pushed by 21 gr. of 2400 & under my cast 225 HP, 8 grains of Unique. (Plink all day with that second load.)

120 rounds through the "Marks" between the two of us. running outa daylight..
I am up to 770 rounds through the Mark IV.
The only firearm I have ever kept track on the shots fired.
