Another 300 or so rounds thru my TX22 and another 200 or so thru my new Ruger SR22. Finally ran some mini mags thru both and amazing how much the groups tightened up for me. Also got to try a .22 magnum cylinder thru the Rough Rider, that round makes a very distinct sound. Also ran about 100 rds of 9mm thru my Beretta PX4 Storm.

Had a blizzard today in most of Maine. Lost power and had about a foot of snow with drifts clogging the driveway. We didn't go anywhere, but did all our chores/travels yesterday, including groceries, gas for the generator and truck, and viewing Christmas lights. There were over 190,000 power outages in our system, which covers more than half of Maine. Had power until 2 AM this morning, when I awoke in complete darkness and "futzed" my way to a flashlight. Our land-line phones are still out. Our eldest son, who lives about 100 yards away came over with his Kubota farm tractor and rear-mounted 6-foot wide snow blower came over late morning to clear out the driveway. We'll soon go out in the dark, and drive to photograph a fantastic Christmas lighting display, about five miles away. In a few days, I may get out to shoot outdoors at the "plowed?" access road at club range...'til then, this is where I'll be caressing rifles, etc.!

I hope your power is restored soon. I worked a lot of those storms in my 35 years as an Electrical Lineman. Lots of good times and some not so good. I actually miss it, a little.

My oldest Son came over this afternoon and we loaded 40 30-06 cases from those 100 that I have been prepping over the last few days. We went to the range and fired a few groups with a pre-64 Winchester Model 70. The SN dates it back to 1954. A few 3 shot groups averaged .222. I guess there is a reason they called it "The Riflemans Rifle"!

My avatar. Only the second time I have fired it. I lost a bet and I owed a friend one magazine worth of trigger time. But I made him clean it afterward......under my close supervision.
I shot my '67 Colt 1911 for only the 2nd time yesterday.....had a few loose rounds to burn off, lol.

Also on the menu were my OMM, 6" Model 10, and DW 22. The Dan Wesson was surprisingly happy with the Aguila Super Shorts I had on hand.

Nothing today.

Shot the 6 Dasher a bunch yesterday. New stock (Chassis actually), new rings. Took 100 rounds with me, brought back 14.

Outdoor range finally open. Roosevelt NF, uncontrolled range Fire Ban lifted.

With youngest son
My Glock 48, 42, Ruger 1022
His New Henry 22 lever(never shot), his new S&W Victory(never shot), his Henry BigBoy..357/38..new firing pin, His Mini14..new stock.

GREAT fun, very relaxing and stress relieving from this wacky times.

New Hogue grips on the #14 the other day and have been so busy w**king that hadn't gotten round to shooting it.

Took care of that small issue early this a.m. Old Lyman 358432,148g wadcutter. Got a bunch of WC moulds but this one is definitely a favorite. Casts like magic,it's so easy. The neat thing is,it isn't a "flush" seated WC,there's a noticeable amount of lead sticking out when seated in crimp groove OAL.

@15yds it ends up just a ragged hole on groups when loaded with 2.8g of PB.

Actually Saturday, but my daughter and I shot the Ruger SR22, Ruger SR9c, and Springfield 1911 9mm. It's the first time she has been able to shoot in a while. We both had a great time.

16 mags of 16 rounds thru my TX22. 50 rounds of .22mag thru my Rough Rider, handful of mags worth thru my Beretta FS92 .22LR. Also ran about 50rds thru my new to me Remington 550-1 and 50rds thru my P365. Was trying to get better at ranges passed 7 yards.

1) All-metal S&W 908 (3rd. Gen: based on the 3914) in 9mm,

2) VZ-58 rifle from Czechpoint, 7.62x39. I really, really like high quality, reliable guns, even though the vast majority are used to hit plastic o. juice bottles or metal plate at Action Pistol ranges.

Hi...
Hadn't been to the range much lately...hunting season and rainy weather.
Fixed that little problem today...
Son and I spent the morning at one of the gun clubs.
No idea what all he shot but he managed to fill a large coffee can with empty brass. He said he only shot a couple cylinders full of .357Mag but he did shoot a lot of 9 and 10mm, plus a large amount of big bore revolver across the .41Mag, .44Spl, .44Mag and .45Colt spectrum. He also shot a few cylinders full of .375SuperMag and .357Maximum. Don't know if he shot any .38Spl.

I managed to shoot 20 rounds out of each of my .38Spl revolvers...Model 10 and a Uberti Richards Mason conversion.
I then transitioned over to .44Spl and ran 20 rounds through each of four .44Spl revolvers...two BlackHawks, a Uberti Old Model SAA clone and a Taurus adjustable sighted DA revolver.
I then shot 20 rounds through each of my .41Mag revolvers...a Dan Wesson, two Ruger Blackhawks and a Model 57.
Switched over to .45Colt...20 rounds through my 1873 octagon barreled lever action and twenty rounds each through my Schofield clone, Remington 1875 clone, Model 25 and Ruger Blackhawk.

Next, I shot twenty rounds each through my Marlin lever action rifle, my Super Blackhawk and my stainless Virginian Dragoon.

Sometime during the day, I shot a couple cylinders full through my Dan Wesson .375SuperMag and my son's .357Maximum plus a magazine through his Ruger 1911 in 10mm.

I was mostly doing speed drills at 7-15 yds and deliberate aimed fire at 25 yds on steel silhouettes. I did spend a lot of time breaking rocks and turning boards into splinters on the 25yd berm.

A pretty good day and I managed to fill a coffee can with fired brass as well. Now tomorrow, I will need to separate and tumble brass.

s-w6904compact-jpg.jpg S&W 6904. Very solid shooter, smooth slide etc, just like the 908 brought home last week. .Just picked it up at the store.
Even with good photos, nice description (and over 3,000 items sold with A+ feedback), most people seem afraid of an "Israeli Turn In".

The potential, future need for what might be a scarce spare part, or being in love with the very shiny silvery S&W guns is easy to understand.

Being a former lineman, you have both my admiration and sympathy. Must have been hard working storm damage repairs. Everyone wants their power back on ASAP!

I had a shooting buddy who was a lineman. He was a pretty tough guy, but those days, they had to climb poles with spurs!

I shot my .Savage 111 FNS at 200 and 300 yards.
Also had a few rounds through my PA10 as I'm trying to work up a load using 180 gr Sierra tipped GameChanger bullets over IMR 4064.

6 loads, all of which could kill a deer at 100 however, I am trouble with 2 good shots and a flyer out 2 inches.
I'll go to 5 shot groups next outing after the potential blizzard we have forecasted here ( probly get 3 inches)
