What gauge for smaller people?

Well, when we were at the sporting goods store, she insisted that my 12 gauge didn't hurt her, it was just loud and she didn't like it.

So... I got me an H&R Survivor Shotgun and some .410's and colt 45's to go with it... if she's as good a natural shot as I think, she can shoot with the .410, if not, she can get some gun confidence first, then use my 12 gauge.

What I am thinking of though, is picking up some of Browning's "Little Skeeters" so I can size my 12 gauge guns down to 20 and 28 gauge. They don't sound great for frequent shooting, but sound just fine for what I'd use them for.

Oh yeah - and I'm also waiting on the H&R 10 gauge I asked the store to order in for me :D

I'm sorry... the title of this thread is pretty funny if you take it literally.

That's why I opened the thread. I wanted to see how long it took for some "wise-crack" to appear. :D

What do you think is the best caliber for women?

You definitely want to use a Magnum with a bore size over .300", because we charge when we're wounded.

The minimum caliber gun for women? The one you're carrying. The preferred caliber? The one bigger than what you're carrying.

Jokes of course - and apologies to whoever told the original form of the joke that I just butchered :D

I recently bought a Remington 870 20ga express magnum in a youth size with a 21" field barrel for home defense and occasional sporting clay usage.

I am a man, but come in at 5'8" and 150lbs, and I just really liked the way the gun felt and how fast it handled, plus my wife can shoot it comfortably.

The Mossberg youth 20ga guns were NOT for me, however. I felt like the pump stock was hitting the trigger guard and my arm hit my chest it was such a short reach. The Remington felt just fine though, it had a slightly shorter than average, but comfortable reach for me. The Mossberg would probably be great for young kids or very small people, but not for someone who is 5'8".
