Fun gun I just picked up last weekend was a S&W 22A-1, nice size 10 + 1 .22 semi automatic w/5 1/2 " barrel. Very accurate & feeds any kind of ammo. Runs like a top. It came with 2 mags & they threw in 2 more & a brick of CCI blazers, all for $199.99 + tax & background check. One of the best deals I ever got a new gun that is tons of fun to shoot, cheap val-pack ammo @ Walmart for $12.00. I couldn't be happier. NRA PATRON LIFE MEMBER
Pretty much anything in .22lr or .17HM2, rifle, pistol or revolver. Cheap to shoot and just plain fun.
Pistol/revolver: anything Ruger, Sig Mosquito
Rifle: any CZ rimfire or Ruger 10/22
Any .22lr revolver or semi-auto. You can shoot them a LOT for very little. When I was stationed at Ft. Knox, I used to get up early (to avoid the dangerous civilians from town) on Saturday and Sunday mornings and drive down to the public range with my Ruger MkII. I'd set up a bunch of miniature iron silhouettes and shoot 'til I ran out of ammunition or people started showing up.
And also the 22 revolver with the same name . I paid $100 for my Heritage Rough Rider & it has both 22lr and 22mag cylinder. It is super accurate with the 22mag & a lot of fun to shoot.
In auto 22 I like the Browning Buck Mark.
My current fun gun is an HK USP Tactical .45. Its just a range toy for now, but may turn into a nightstand gun too. 12+1 of .45 with a flash suppressor is pretty comforting.
My Ruger MK II is my fun gun. I also like Ruger 10/22's and Marlin .22's. You can't beat a .22lr for just plain enjoyment.
I have an old single shot Remington that was my Dad's first rifle. I will be starting my daughter out on it in a couple of years. She will be the 3rd generation that has learned to shoot on that old gun. I hope she can feel her Grandaddy smiling down on her on that first day.
It's my Smith and Wesson 622.
Best pistol I ever bought while looking for another one.
It just keeps plugging along and weighs nothing, accurate too.

I received a gift certificate for Gander Mountain one Christmas. I used it to buy a Ruger Target semi-auto 22 pistol and a Remington 597 stainless 22 rifle. I had historically used my cash to buy centerfire firearms for specific hunting, recreational, and defense purposes. I took advantage of the windfall to aquire something everyone should have in the gun safe, a quality 22 rifle and pistol. For training, hunting, and just general having fun you can not beat a good 22.
