What guns have you wanted but just couldn't justify paying the price?

A custom shop 1911 (Wilson, Ed Brown, Les Baer)

A custom pistol smith built 1911 (John Harrison, Stan Chen, Ted Yost, Jerry Keiffer, Joe Chambers, Jim Clark's boys)

A 1911. I carried one in the Navy and really liked it, but I just can't justify buying one. Comparing weight, capacity, and reliability to my other pistols, the math just doesn't add up.

A high end competition skeet model over/under with a set of match weight tubes. Brand is not important, there are only a few manufacturers that are considered the "best of the best". The main addition is that the gun needs to be professionally fitted to me.

An S&W Model 16-1, -2, or -3 (32 SWL).

Beretta Billenium. A local shop used to have an NIB for sale but the price was too rich for my blood. Shop closed when the owner passed away and I think his kids kept the Beretta.

A SIG P210 would be nice. But I could never bring myself to fork over that much $$$.

The H&K PSG1 rifle has always tickled my fancy.

Came close to buying an H&K SL7 at one point but the price scared me away.

Really, the list is very long. The more I think about it, the more I guns I think of that I've wanted but didn't buy because they were too expensive.

Perazzi, Kreighoff, or Kolar; but instead of match weight tubes, go with the carrier barrel and sub tubes so they weigh what the 12 gauge barrel weighs........

Yes, when I was competing, I could never get my 12 ga Citori to swing the same without tubes as with tubes. As a result, I shot 20 ga in the 12 ga events because my 20 ga averages were higher than my 12 ga average.

Still looking for a Ruger No.1 International in .223, .243, .270, or 30-06, found one for $650.00 in the box in .270 at a gun show, however, I walked over to the next aisle and thought about it for a second, returned to the rifle, and it was in process of being sold. Stupid is as stupid does the always say.

I usually find a way to get what I want or find an acceptable compromise. One thing I've always wanted but had a real hard time justifying is a 1st generation Colt SAA. Whether it's a pitted old beater or one in nicer shape, I've never been able to talk myself into one. Which is comical because I've paid more for USFA's and custom Rugers.

I used to own a RSI in 243; one gun I regret selling.

I want one of those six shooters as owned by Roy Rodgers, Hop Along Cassidy, or the Lone Ranger, onacounta they never run out of bullets.:what:
Seriously if I ever win the lottery it would be a Westley & Richards double in .375 Holland& Holland.:)
By the way someone mentioned they would like a nice side X side shotgun at a reasonable price. I bought a CZ Ringneck that I've been very happy with, just under a grand.

Plenty I've wanted, but none that I needed beyond my modest means.
Since I quit collecting and started spending quality time training with what I already have I find myself a lot happier.

I've been collecting/accumulating guns for about 63 years and one gun I've never owned is a Colt SAA.
They've always been just a little bit more than I have been willing to pay at the time.
Currently I have been a little fascinated by the Chiappa Rhino, but I'm nowhere ready to part with that kind of money just to satisfy an itch....

Or Ian from forgotten weapons.
Yeah, most of those are at least five-digit price tags; "affordable" only for those who debate which caviar to keep for day-to-day use. Sigh.

However, most of those do have legitimately high price tags, they are that rare, or that unique, or whatever. And not, as in OP's premise those things that are common, but just have an annoyingly (or inexplicably) high price tag. Why are $80-90 used 10/22 selling for $200? Mostly because a new one is too close to $400.

I'm also clearly far too jaded, too.

That's why I want a Roy Rodgers six shooter, with all the money I'd save with just one gun that never ran out of bullets I could afford a whole bunch of them expensive ones. Guess it's a matter of shoot em or collect em. :(

The mall ninja in me has drooled over an M107 .50 caliber with all the crazy optics. Why? Maybe for groundhog hunting? I dunno... It's just cool that's all.
Or something full auto like a MAC 10. Again, just because.
