Before I lost my very good-paying job several years ago, I shot everything I have regularly (my 1911, 92 etc.). I still do now just maybe a half dozen times per year due to ammo costs (with my substantially less paying gig). But what's changed is I bought my first .22lr handgun (have shot .22lr for twenty+ years) which has become my primary range gun--I can shoot all day long several times a month absent having to worry about a second job--additionally, I really believe it keeps me sharp as far as my overall shooting capability whareas if I just shot my big-caliber handguns infrequently, my skills may suffer. So here's what I shoot nowadays like there's no tomorrow:
how is that GSG 1911 as far as ammo preference? Is it picky? I've been looking into getting a .22 1911 myself to expand my .22 handgun collection but am looking for one that will darn well eat what I feed it.

I have I used the following ammo:
- Winchester 555 Rounds Value Pack
- Remington ShurShot High Velocity
- Federal 550 Round Value Pack
- CCI Standard Velocity SV
- Federal Auto Match
The only problems I have experienced were a few FTF's from only the Federal Value Pack ammo (yet my buddy has a Ruger Mark II and has experienced that same periodic issue with same ammo--looking at the misfeeds shows oddly shaped 'noses' and hence the FTF (only happened say 2 out of 50 which for the range ammo is no cause for alarm).
For serious business (which is not the role I bought this for) I would use CCI Mags or Stingers--I tested a few boxes of these and they ran flawlessly).
