What has happened to THR

Like the new format and think it will be great after some fine tuning.
My only comment is that the white background is too bright and it would be better if it were toned down a little, the high contrast causes eyestrain

Try the THR Test format. The background is greeny/gray. Easy to read.

I like the new board, especially since it's responsive. I think with just a little bit of tweaking they can make it great. For example, I made the logo much more readable in like 30 seconds:

Not needing Tapatalk to support a BBS format I used extensively in highschool, on my mobile , is quite nice.

THR will , will, will, reap membership revival from new users based on a modern format, and hopefully see younger users return to the site based on its more modern user friendly format.

Now, if we can keep the aspiring Ents from chasing them off, we should see a rise in active membership. Ya !

Go to your account information. Click Preferences. Set style to THR TEST.

100% worth doing. Much easier to read.

Admins, thanks for taking the time to tweak the software. It's really difficult to understand how much work goes on behind the scenes if you've never done it.

I guess this fits me. I'm brand new and right away saw THR was not going to work on my iPhone. Went to Tapatalk. Didn't really like the format all that much. So IMO this new update is great.

OK, I went ahead the turned on this functionality. Don't know if it works yet, and Paypal is the only payment method currently permitted, but it's more than it was.

I'm old and I like it. I use my iPad Mini2 mostly but occasionally my Android phone. On the iPad it looks and works fine. Thanks to the guys who made it happen.

I did like the previous/next availability and don't see it.

I have not figured out how to highlight quotes with this format.

Maybe some don't know what "highlight" means, or for that matter what the 'cursor' is.

Tapatalk isn't installed, and odds are it won't be.

There are a few folks who are quite upset about this, but from the perspective of a forum owner getting away from Tapatalk is something I'm really happy about.

If you're just looking for mobile access this software does that really well. If you're looking for one central place to access all the forums you visit, then you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the information! I was starting to wonder if I lost my tec savvy. I primarily use my phone with tapatalk(no internet at the house), and I must admit I've never even logged into THR on a PC other than setting up my account, but I really like the new format on a mobile device. Thanks for all the great work guys!

Well I liked the old board much better. I guess I will someday get used to this one. Maybe in 5 or 10 years .
My boards are vBulletin® Version 4.2.3 and that what I am used to. Seems most boards are V Bulletin on net .

I still have a land line phone. No cell phone in my pocket. Never will have either. I don't accept change very well .

Just changed to THR test, makes a world of difference with my BAD eyes. The white and pastel blue really blossomed bad for me, but new style in post was awesome for me. Thanks for that tip!!!! Keep up the good work.

I just want to thank the staff and administrators. A big migration like this takes a lot of work, and I certainly appreciate everything.

I totally understand the reason(s) why things had to change and why we can't go back. I also think things have gone well overall.

It's all a matter of getting used to things. I have had other boards I frequent get away from vBulletin, and I had the same misgivings. I am a creature of habit and often resist change, as many people do. I always really miss the "Forum Jump". But I know it is for the best. As long as you provide 3 or 4 "skins" (style choosers or whatever) I think people should be fine. At least one light-on-dark and one dark-on-light color scheme (text to background), as people will prefer one over the other. Maybe even let people vote on some options you come up with, and pick the top choices. Just my lone, humble suggestion.

Another thing I have noticed is that there is no more "post count" listed with out names. Was the new software incapable of handling that?

Never mind. Like someone else said elsewhere, the white background was hard on the eyes. I saw where they said use the "THR test" and that is definately easier on the eyes. Switching to that also brought the post count back.
