What have you done in the reloading room today

Yesterday & today--decapped/sized, wet tumbled, dry tumbled, expanded/primed 46 Winchester 45acp cases recovered yesterday at my unscheduled range visit. (Gout was feeling much better so got a haircut then went to range. Big outting.)

I shot 50 cases total within my ongoing Winchester longevity project. So, I also bemoan 4 lost cases. I hate losing any!

As for case deterioration/longevity, the pockets are in fine shape having just been uniformed last week prior to this loading. Today all passed go/no go gauge. Many had been too tight & shallow thus the uniforming. I have not decided what I will do if/when they become too shallow again.

As for length, just 6 are .890". The remainder are as short as .886". They all began over .893" with most over .894". That was in late May/early June.

Other than all that, after more than one dozen loadings each, I can find no damage to any of these cases other than the heads getting beat up.

Looked like a question to me, rhetorical or not.

Although I'm not a big user of Lee equipment, I think they get a bad rap from some. Lee equipment is about as polarizing a subject as Glocks, FMJ for SD ammo, how hard you can run a Garand, or, most recently, the 300BO.
Agree. I'm not a big user of Lee either but Lee does have a few things that no one does better. I don't turn my nose up to Lee.

Wet tumbled some 460 S & W with some 44 Rem. Mag. and a handful of 45 Colt.

They are done drying and will be sorted out tomorrow.

I think I have one batch left to clean.
A combination of 38 special and 357 magnum.

Then done for the season! :)
I had big problems with 44 and 45 caliber in my wet tumbler. The 38s and 357 were even worse, get any locked together. I had to use the kinetic hammer to get them apart....

Tumbling cases from the range trip today and just finished the 3rd coat bake on some 45-70 and 357 mag casts.

Took the 38-55 out for another run of this ladder with inconclusive results.

Had 40rds of 45-70 out though with my known good load to just shoot at the 200yrd steel which I hadn't tried yet but has been a goal of mine for a while. A couple of months ago I got my front sight filed down to the point where the lowest setting on my Skinner peep is right on at 50yrds, that way I could turn up enough to reach out to 200yrds with my ~1150-1170fps cast load.

I really didn't know where to start with dialing up the peep, so I decided 4 full turns was as good of a place as any to start and see if I was low/high/whatever.

Turns out that 4 turns was right on with a center hold with the front sight blade, I had one of the RSOs sight for me on a couple shots to be sure I wasn't hitting dirt where I couldn't see. There's a berm at 100yrds and when I sit at a bench the 16"x14" steel plates at 200 yards I could only see the plate, so if they were low I wouldn't know. And can't can't always listen for the ding since other people are shooting on the range too, if somebody fires at the same time as the bullet is going to hit you can't hear it.

But turns out it was right on, I must have hit damn near every one since I never saw any dirt kick up. Now I'm jonesing to load up 40 more and get some out there again. Maybe save the last 10 for offhand shooting and get an idea if I could do it in silhouette, those rams are at 200m (218.7yrd) though so might need an extra half turn on the peep.

Pretty good day over-all.

@Soonerpesek By the way, that was with the NOE 460-396-RN-AE2 PB, range scrap alloy at 398gr, hitek coated and sized to .460", N120 24.9gr, Trim length 2.100" and COAL of 2.47"
EXCELLENT.....!!
Definitely sounds like that one is a KEEPER for ya............!!!! :p
I did finally load some 405's with various powders including your helpful data, haven't got the chance to chrono them yet.....

??? No way!
Maybe 357 with 44 or something like that, I can see.
The mouths on 357 and 38 are too close to the same size.
That would tumble together without "mating".
And 44 mag and 45 Colt mouths just butt up to one another, as with 460 S&W.

I have never had a problem and I think you are mistaken with what was tumbled together.

Anyways........
Finished popping spent primers on that small pail of 9mm.
Sorted the brass from yesterday's wet tumble session and continued work on a rifle stock that is being re-finished.

Gunny would cringe at my use of the Mrs. steam iron! ;)

The 38/357 with 45c was the nightmare. 45acp isn't great either.

223 is also eaten by 38/357.

I was thinking 460 would eat 44 mag. Glad it wasn't an issue.
