What have you done in the reloading room today

Yehaw. I hung up a magnetic tool hanger thingy for the ap tools. Moved my bullet poster. And moved the “monster bucks” calendar off the place where the poster now occupies. Still fiddling with the thrower. It’s running from 3/10 under. Maybe autocomp ain’t the best metering. But it threw fine out of the other one…

My new Lee powder thru expanders with the step in them just arrived today so I am in the process of swapping them out and giving them a try for 9mm and 38 special
Tried them out tonight I am very impressed with them so far I only loaded 10 rounds but if this is how they work my Noe ones will go bye bye at my upcoming swap meet.

Spent over an hour gas checking and sizing 6.5 cast bullets. Man this process is soooo slow. Apparently it works, so it's hard to argue with success.View attachment 1202373
FWIW, I use a Lyman also - a couple of 450s and even some older 45's.
I typically check and size in a push-through sizer (NOE setup, in my case). Then I use the Lyman strictly for lubing.

I have to handle them an additional time, but I think it goes quicker despite that.

Looking good!

Edit to add:
Another consideration when sizing;
The Lyman sizer pushes from the top. Much pressure to push down to seat and crimp the check, then pressure to size. There is a risk - considerable I think - bending a long skinny bullet. Like the ones loaded in a Swede, or really any 6.5mm-bore rifle.

With a push through sizer it pushes from the base. No chance of bending a long skinny bullet.

I gave into the shiny side today. I know I said I never did this for my 3 gun target ammo, but I put a shine on, trimmed, and uniformed and deburred the primer pockets. All 119 of them. That's right. 0331241608.jpg Why? That's all the Winchester cases I had to load. I don't care about having 81 primers either.

I finally finished prepping 223 brass for my Match Burner Load and threw a few in to test my CFE223 FMJ load. CCI 400 for Match Burner and CCI 41 for the FMJ. FMJ are going through my new Roscoe barreled upper. Hopefully they don’t overgas and fly out at 2 o’clock off the case deflecto. CFE 223 does that sometimes, at least in my rifles.

Well it's the gun or the brass. I process a loooot of brass and this is a first. If it was one or two I make a note. 5 in a hundred gets me asking questions.

AAC is Palmetto State Armory's new ammo line. Doesn't seem to be much about it online; some say it could be more accurate, others are having failure to eject with the 77gr projos. No recalls mentioned that I could find.
