What have you done in the reloading room today

I am taking it super easy now. Watching some reloading videos on Youtube. Mostly 45 Colt. :) I am trying to nurse my back after hurting it on Monday putting insulation in the Sunroom ceiling.
Tomorrow, I am just mounting the KMS LED light kit on my Rock Chucker that @irishlad turned me on to. Maybe a bit of 40 S&W reloading. We'll see. I am trying to work through all of my dies to clean them up after years of neglect.

You're getting back into the swing of things nicely.Loading area looks good:thumbup:.
BTW, the grips I ordered from NCO didn't work. Not their fault, I ordered the wrong ones. Dang! Already talked to the owner and he'll be sending me the correct ones.
Do like the way they look and feel. Ahh, stuff happens.

I forgot I ordered these. They just came. I wanted to try Lee's Carbide dies with Breech Lock for my new Lee Hand Press. 45 Colt. It's nice that they still include a free shell holder. I have not used Lee dies since the early 90s. Don't worry, I'm still a fan of RCBS. Just trying these with the new hand press that is set up for the Lee Breech Lock system.

I also ordered a shell plate for 40S&W and the Lee Universal Decapping/Depriming Tool for the Hand Press. Funny way of shipping it. Just a plain package. No name, no printing, no nothing. Good thing I know what it is.
I'm putting together a Range Bag for reloading. Separate from my bench.

Thanks. That sounds like something I would have done, so you are in good company. I bet they are going to look great when you get the right ones. I can't wait to see them.

OH, and you will like this my friend. My Unique Powder came in. I am picking it up tomorrow. That was faster than I expected. The gun shop just called about an hour ago. I have not had Unique on my shelf since the late 90s. I thought about picking it up tonight, but I'm too comfy now in the recliner. First time I have sat down today since 7 AM.

I started it, and now I have 3 more of my friends doing it. Buddy gave me space on his reloading bench to put a set of Hornady Brackets, View attachment 1207324(10 feet from his shooting bench and 897 yard range) and now several of us “truck” a similar set up to this out there.View attachment 1207323Not regretted it at all. Except my “truck” being a Honda accord does complicate it a bit. Haha
I also haven’t duplicated my Mititoyo mics and calipers… those get switched back and forth…
I've spent many a happy day with a portable reloading setup at the range. Instant gratification, strange looks from any casual shooters, and lots of good ammo development.

That sounds wonderful.

I have never done range reloading before in all of my decades of enjoying the shooting sports. Then @GeoDudeFlorida posted his Lee Hand Press, I ordered one, and the rest is history, as they say. I am building a good initial range kit for reloading. I should have that kit assembled enough by Friday to use at the range on Saturday, as long as my RCBS portable digital scale arrives by then. I will most likely continue to add to it over time, but the initial kit will get me started. I do not know why I never went down this rabbit hole before, but as they say, better late than never.

In my own defense, today is the first day of qualifying for Enabler of the Month - May ‘24. 😁👍

And rightly so. Congratulations!

Now, 13 bucks for that great Lee Powder Measure Kit? Done. It will fit in my new range reloading kit bag just dandy.
Chalk up another "Enablement".

Checked to make sure the auto drum was dropping the correct amount of powder on my six pack pro, then loaded up 300 9mm with N320 and 124 Match Winners. Press ran great, only stoppages were 2 RP head stamp cases that split when flaring/charging. The new "M" style expander keeps the bullets quite straight as well!

Ran a test at the range today and got some positive feedback. 22.0 grains of imr 4227 came alive and the crappy numbers disappeared. Tonight at the bench I loaded 21.8-22.4 for further evaluation. I was shooting 100 yards because that's how the previous test in 30-06 was run. I need to roll it back to 50 for inital accuracy assessment so my vision isn't wrecking the test...... 17145888241111861700358420640580.jpg

I hope they serve you well as they have served me for decades.

👍😁

I am sure I will. Thanks. I never thought about getting a set of those. I appreciate the tip. I actually got them from Amazon. I wanted them by Friday so I could take them to the range on Saturday in my new "Kit". A few bucks more than Midway, but way faster, and free shipping with Prime, so probably the same price as Midway (with shipping included) and I get them by Friday instead of next week.

I do have to push the BUY button on my Midway cart soon. I have some things in there that I can't find locally.

Just wrapped up expanding, priming, charging and seating 40ct 45-70 with my cast & coated and Phil's special recipe.

Lever action silhouette is this weekend, after the match I'm going to casually try my hand at the rifle side of things with the 45-70's. I've only shot 357 on the pistol caliber side but I've been thinking about doing rifle out to 200m. I know 4 turns up on my rear peep gets me to 200yrds on the main range, but I'll have to test if that's enough for the extra distance in meters or if it needs maybe an extra half turn.

The real test though will be figuring out where to turn up to hit turkeys at 150m. I'm thinking I'll start at 3 turns up from my 50yrd setting and see how it goes.

Stoked up 50 rounds of .44 mag range fodder with Berry's 240gr plated bullets over 9.5gr of Unique and WLP primers. Had some feeding issues with the new Lee bullet feeder...gonna have to work on that some. Quite honestly, I don't think my time spent with the new turret, press mounted powder feed and bullet feed was any faster than loading single stage. Maybe once I get the tuning bugs worked out and get a rhythm going it will be faster?

Didn’t anyone ever tell you that you are not supposed to shoot a hole in your note pad!!!!

Sized, deprimed and cleaned pockets on 150 44 spc cases. My makeshift primer catcher works pretty good! Only about 10 primers hit the floor
The primers are probably bouncing of the base of the bowl. Cut a piece of light cardboard (cereal box) into a half pie shape and staple/tape to the bowls rear rim. Should solve the problem.
