Need some help. What height rings do i need? I think the scope is 1" tube.

Low, medium, or high rings? i want to add the Butler Creek flip up covers to the scope :)

Savage 10FP .223 24" LE Rifle

There's alot more to it than that. Different manufacturers make different lows, meds, and highs. Different series of rings from the same manufacturer can, too. Also, the nominal size of the scope isn't the most relevant thing when talking about ring height, the objective size weighs in there. That being said, lower is generally better, as long as it's in line with your eye.

YMMV

most applications using a 40 mm scope, low or medium works fine. for 50 mm scopes, med. or high works. some people also want their scopes mounted higher. i prefer mine as close to the barrel as i can get it. there are a lot of variables here.

take your gun to the shop. get your scope, then mount the bottom half of your rings. place your scope in the bottom half of the rings and see how that fits/looks. make sure that when you shoulder the gun, your eye is in line w/ your scope.

also, moving a scope fore or aft changes clearance on sporter guns (straight taper rifles is a different story), etc...
