Hi Everyone
I was just wondering if applying a coating to a vintage SIG slide lowers the value or the collectability of the gun?
The gun in question would be a mid 1990's SIG P228. Not an antique, but becoming more collectable, as I understand it.
The slide is about 90-95%. No bare spots, but the original coating is looking somewhat lighter, perhaps a little worn.
Would leaving it 100% original make some difference to its value?
Or...would doing a Duracote or Ceracote be OK?
Would spending $100 to send it back to SIG for a Nitron coating increase the value of the gun significantly more than having the above two would...and be worth the $100?
Thanks
John
