What is the most recent knife you bought?

Luck and speed today at DLT... nine second checkout time on what was probably a sub-fifteen second sellout to get one of a dozen custom K2s by Vehement Knives in advance of a bigger midtech release of the same model.

Hand-ground, hand-rubbed finish CPM154 with a tapered tang, glossy natural micarta with red liners and mosaic pins. Leather by Skinbender Leatherworks. Definitely going back for another couple of the midtechs when they get here, to me this is about the nicest military field-style knife I've seen, and those types of knives are the inspiration for most of Matt's designs.

It's a Buck 118 Pro. S35VN with Bos heat treatment. Green Micarta handle. It came very sharp and now it is the sharpest knife in the drawer. Didn't warm up to the factory leather sheath at all. Found it to not be amenable to comfortable carry and it's a little cumbersome to operate. So I commissioned a custom horizontal carry Kydex sheath. And this is what I got.

It's my favorite fixed blade now, love everything about it. Size, blade shape, materials and especially the feel of micarta over the standard phenolic. Sheath is more than good to go. Perfect fit with no drag or rattle. Belt clip works perfect. Wish I'd had something like this 50 years ago... 1183.jpg 1184.jpg 118 kydex.jpeg oneeighteen.jpg

Microtech Ultratech, bayonet blade.
I hesitated a long time... My concern was that it could be a gimmick/gadget, and that it wouldn't really be worth the price.
I watched a video of a guy pounding one to the hilt in a 2x4, then yanking it side to side to get it out. I could not believe an OTF lock could survive that. So, I ordered one, had to find out...
If it's not worth the price, it's real close!
The action feels solid. You get that "chunk" when opening it or closing, like opening a Swiss vault kind of feeling. Its only weakness is if you get dirt or something inside, it won't function reliably anymore until you clean it. It was very sharp out of the box, not extremely sharp, easy enough to fix when the time comes.
I paid almost as much as my used S&W 586. It's a hard pill to swallow, especially that though it is legal to own here in France, carrying it is prohibited. At least I can take my 586 to the range. Oh well, I like nice things.
Gil.

Dipped my toe in the Mora world. Mainly wanted a couple knives I wouldn't feel bad about beating up on a regular basis. These things really seem incredible for the price. The standard companion is going to go in my car's emergency pack, the HD Companion is going to be my working around the yard knife. Haven't figured out what I'm gonna do with the Pro Robust. Would've put it in our other car, but I'd prefer a stainless for that vs carbon steel. I just tossed it on because it was the right amount for free shipping. 😆

Kizer towser K showed up today. Nice design, terrific action, 154 CM and showing up here and there at $48 price. I'm a sucker for contoured micarta! Bestechman Ronan also did not disappoint!

I picked up this Kershaw knife last weekend at a gun show for $10. The table was covered with used quality knives- CRKT, Kershaws, Bucks, Spyderco, etc., with prices so low that they were basically free. I asked the guy at the booth what was up with these knives, and he told me that they were all confiscated by TSA and he was able to get them at auction for next to nothing. I guess lots of people who can afford a plane ticket can afford a decent knife too. which will be confiscated by TSA if you forget you have it.

Amazon just dropped this off Yesterday. Very nice knife and pretty high quality like you would expect from Leatherman.

I replaced my lost Leatherman charge with a newer and double the cost charge titanium a year ago. Its worthless garbage and been back to Leatherman 2x and it is broken now. I'll try some other brand from now on. A 20 dollar ozark trail would be better than. My 400 dollar charge tti. The pliers broke off first. They fixed it. The flat spring that holds the bits in fell out and now The flat head is broke off.....how in the hell can you put enough tq on a flat head to break the bit?

My old one was excellent and used daily at the same job as the new one. Never had an issue.

Id trade the dirty SOB who picked mine up. The new 400 dollar one for my old 200 dollar one.

Into the weather where I'm putting on and taking off layers all day and carrying a knife on my belt can be a hassle so I decided to look for a stout folder I can clip to my carharts or move from pocket to pocket. I settled on this (Hogue) Sig K320. I bought the pro model with the aluminum handle and G10 inserts. It has a nice weight to it, fairly hand filling. I can just barely get a 4 finger grip, but its comfortable. They had a collectors edition with a carbon fiber handle and satin finished blade that looked really nice, but it was a tanto and quite a bit more money so I stuck with this since its technically kind of a beater anyhow. S30V blade and very sharp out of the box with a nice smooth action. I actually think hogue might do a better axis lock than benchmade to be honest, it has a very precise feel when you pull back on it with just the right amount of spring tension.
I'm a bit disappointed in benchmade these days and just don't see much value to them with their current pricing. I really like the shape of the crooked river but I will never pay $300 for a knife with pakkawood handles...The hogue was under $200 and is as nice as any of the benchmades I've owned or handled and made in the US. I'd love to see them branch out with more models. KIMG2168.JPG

Midtech Vehement Knives drop at DLT Trading! Still a bunch available, this was a 400-500 knife release.

This one is on its way to me... had a hard time picking from my top five choices or so.

Satin finish double-black canvas micarta over red liners with mosaic pins. Tiger stripe CPM154 blade. Custom sheath.
