What is the single stupidest thing you have done with a gun? I was about to start cleaning my 10/22 and was about to make sure the chamber was empty when i i tried to pull the bolt back and it sliped forward and ended up firing a live round in my back yard went thrue a dry erase board a ladder into a brick wall then flew off into an other brick wall before stopping. :banghead: last time im ever letting one of my friends inspect the chambers after leaving the range at least it was a .22 short. Needless to say i feel really really stupid and bad at the same time.

Dumbest:

Kaboom!

Second dumbest:

I flagged my friend's girlfriend with my loaded Beretta 92FS. That was seven years ago and I'm still pushing.

I once flagged my hunting buddies with my .44 Magnum rifle after I harvested my first deer (4-point spike). I grabbed my rifle for a photo op. I guess I was pretty excited about my first deer, but that was no excuse. I was holding it with one hand by the stock under the barrel, but it did register in my mind after the fact.

When I was a kid in the big city, I would push .22 rounds into the ground with the shell up and peak out my screen door and shoot the shell with my Daisy lever BB gun. I thought it was cool then, but I could have shot my eye out!

A .22 short went through a dry erase board, a ladder, hit a brick wall, bounced off and hit another wall?

Gameface

Sold any gun that I ever purchased or was given, to buy something
else newer or precieved to be better. I had a couple of bummers
over the years, but lament over all the goods ones, that are gone.

Tested the decocker of my CZ-52, loaded, in the house after I had gotten it, and before I read that the CZ-52 decocker sometimes worked, and sometimes didn't, when you got it from where ever you bought it.

Purchased a gun and didn't shoot it.

Have done this one multiple times. Fortunatly there is still time to cure the problem.

Repeat after me:

I, (your name here), do solemnly swear, from this day forward, to never, ever sell any firearm that I happen to come into ownership of, whether it's purchased, a gift, inherited, or by any other means.

:D

I've never sold any of mine!

:p

editted to add: This oath does not in any discourage you from acquiring more firearms.

Shot my television with my HD Winchester 1300.
Then instinctively racked the pump and rechambered before I realized what I did. While my wife (gf at the time) sat screaming on the couch a few feet to my right.

Dropped my (unloaded) old 686 into a mud puddle at a practical shoot ..... and was on the next detail ... duh! Quickest strip and clean I ever did .. including sideplate off!:p :p

Other stoopids?? Not telling! :neener:

I have two sitting in my closet that were my biggest mistakes. One, the ammo is way to expensive and scarce to ever shoot it, and the other doesn't work worth a damn. :(

I was shooting my first shotgun back when I was like 16. The only other thing I had ever fired was my dad's .38 special and my bb gun. After expelling a magazine of 3" 00 buck, I handed the shotgun back to the guy who was nice enough to take me shooting... I think I was a little dazed by the recoil because I accidently covered him w/ the muzzle. He was a certified range officer, and I caught a friendly, gentle slap across the face and a warning about what they do to people in the army when they make that mistake... also a warning that if I did it again I couldn't shoot w/ them anymore. Boy was I embarrased. I've never made that mistake again.

She was probably terrified that the stereo was next.

cheers, ab

At least Agony can't be accused of having bad form...

:D

*sigh* Traded a Mosin-Nagant M44 for...

*whimper* here goes...

a nylon soft rifle case. One of the cheap Wal-Mart kind. :banghead: :banghead: :uhoh:  :banghead: :barf:

That, and purchasing a Winchester 1911SL.

I will never, and I mean NEVER, go to Big Boy's ever again. The only gun I will ever sell is that Winchester... and only to a franchise pawn shop that is too dumb to know better. :fire:

Got to the range.....

Didn't yet put my "ears" on.....

Wasn't taking notice to the young man with a 9mm pistol pointed downrange and aimed on target.....

Standing about 5 feet to his right.....

BANG! :what:

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING! (in my ears). :uhoh:

While my hearing returns, feeling REALLY stupid! :banghead:

NEVER MADE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN! :D
