What is your “Loudest” Gun?

Ruger American in 7mm Rem Mag with a brake. My girlfriend shot it this year at a deer without hearing protection and her ear was ringing for a couple of days. She also sat next to it (with ears on) when I shot it and said the muzzle blast directed sideways was like "a hurricane of hot" or something like that, lol.

The 38 special Colt Officers Model, left to me as a gift from my uncle, he shot the round about 4" from my right ear, I wasn't wearing ear protection and it ruptured my ear drum and took about 99 % hearing out of that ear. It felt like someone drove an icepick into my ear, dropped me to my knees, had vertigo that still bothers me today along with tinnitus.

Thanks, unc!:scrutiny:

upload_2018-11-30_18-12-16.png Poor picture, but my loudest handguns would have to be one of these four....but that would not be determined by me as I always wear ear protection. BTW, plugs and muffs shootin' the 460!
Top to bottom:TC Contender, 357 Herrett
S&W 460
Ruger SBH in 44 Rem. mag
Interarms Virginian Dragoon in 44 Rem. mag

My .308 Axis. Everyone who has been around it says it sounds like a cannon.

Concussion is pretty brutal standing beside it outside. Always produces a nice fireball in broad daylight.

Never shot it indoors and never without ear pro.

It's just a little .308 but it's loud.

Try a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine, it slightly edges my Mosin carbine in noise level.

Now, for the lesson of the day. A device that is fitted to the end of a rifle, pistol, or shotgun barrel is a "brake", something that reduces felt recoil by redirecting some of the energy behind the bullet in order to offset Newton's third law. A muzzle "break" would be something that disables your firearm. Please make note of the spelling for future reference....... Just a pet peeve of mine.

Once fired a 454 Casull Super Redhawk minus ears on an Indoor range, still ringing

I had a .32-20 that was earsplitting with full power ammo and no earmuffs when I was young and stupid. Sold it.
