Well I have learned a very dear lesson as far as selling guns and I will never sell a gun again even if it doesn't work. I am 23 years old and I plan to keep adding guns until I die or they outlaw them.
Well now I need your advice, as normally I scour gun shows and just make spontaneous impulse buys, but I do my research.
I guess my biggest dissapointment thus far is that my rifles are only "hobby" rifles according to some of the more elite members on this site.
Ex:
M1A is looked down upon, as a poor copy of the M14
My Stag and RRA ARs are not mil-spec, so they can't be trusted.
My STG and Saigas aren't real AK pattern guns, just guns marketed and made for American consumers.
I guess I should focus on quality over quantity.
I am in a very bad situation, as I don't have a designated disaster rifle. I have been accumulating magazines but not so much on the ammo though. My nearest rifle range that has at least 100yd range charges per gun and 8.00 a pop, on top of being 26 miles away.
I do have some rifle skills, as I do hunt, and with my 7mm or .25-06, I'm good to about 350yds on a slow moving target. (I know that this doesn't compare to most of you guys on here and that is just midrange shooting) But with plinking and the such, I feel that I have more experience than the average gun owner.
As far as handguns is concerned I am good to go with all but the CZ and the Super Redhawk, as the ammo is scarce and the gun is old. The nearest handgun range is 5 miles away.
What I got planned, I'm going to get a Glock 17 because I like Glocks and the 9mm is affordable. This will be my new carry, practice twice a week gun. The gun and the caliber is both proven.
My next handgun after the politcal climate settles will most likely be a Smith 686+ or one of the eight shot varieties. Handguns aren't as fun to collect to me because their performance can basically be summarized by 3 to 5 calibers. Plus they work so well that there is no need to stockpile them. Besides, rifles first right?
Now for Rifles:
I plan to get (2) Garands, and another M1 Carbine from the CMP.
I know I need a bolt action .308, but I haven't attempted to buy anything bolt action since the presidential nominees were announced.
I would like to get a focus on the disaster needs. My mother is a single parent, have two little sisters, a long term girlfriend and a lot to lose and protect.
My girlfriend is the only person that I can really see using a rifle alongside me, my mother and sisters know how to use guns, but they need to stay out of harms way, they use handguns.
So what is Mil-spec? Something that can survive me shooting 20,000 rds for training purposes and still be up to handle what ever hell can throw at me? If I get those Enhanced bolt carrier groups from LMT, would this make my AR worthy to those who trash the "familiar" brands.
I'm thinking something accurate, light, reliable, and durable. Whatever I choose I will now focus all my attention on and stock up on a hundred or so magazines, about four copies of the rifle and keep a very high supply of ammuntion on hand at all times. This will be accompanied by a Couple Glock 17s and a stockpiling of ammunition and magazines.
My Picks:
Sig 556 (is this good and proven yet?)
Accurate AK, I mean ACCURATE! (suggestions)
Fulton M14 ( they have cast recievers though)
Colt AR-15 (mil-spec RIGHT?)
6.8 Uppers (for my ARs, maybe some manufactuer that makes Mil-spec parts)
This post is not intended to offend, or start a fight. I have followed this website for a long time, I don't post often, because I'm sure that I am outclassed by many of you. I am just confused and am tired of buying TOYS, I need your help to buy GUNS. Thank you very much in advance.
This is my most important post yet, I appreciate your help though.
P.S. I have plenty of food and water.
