What retention level would this be?

I am looking for a Duty Holster, and I need something with at least Level II retention.

It seems to be a cost effective option untill I'm done with the academy and can buy something nicer. Any ideas as to what it's retention level would be?

All it has is a thumb break, so it is a Level I

I have anxiety dreams of the thing being firmly in there and never come out in time.

Yes, if you are looking into a duty holster don't cheap out with that Glock holster (as epiphany already said it is a Level I anyways). The Serpa's are great holsters and I use one when I'm out on the farm.

And it allows you to practice in the academy with what you will use after you graduate.

Look to Safariland for the duty holster you need. No one makes them better, or sells more of them.

It's probably wisest to look at the same carry holsters as you'd use aftewards, but naturally the budget may simply not allow that.

I have no need for specific levels of retention as I'm just a regular citizen carrying, but I use one of these with my SIG and it works very well.

Not knowing the specifics involved though, it seems very strange that the academy (and later department) wouldn't issue something a workable holster. I'd expect the option to be there to buy something better if you wanted, but for something at least meeting specs to be made available as a baseline. That's just my inclination as an outside observer with no direct LE involvement (I do technically work for the county which encompasses the sheriff's office, but my only involvement with them is fixing their computers after hours if they break and I'm the one on call ).
