This year I have Two Options Ready
This year I have two options at ther ready:
I sighted-in my SA M1A "Loaded", .308 Win, zeroed at 100 yards, using 165 Gn. Win Fail Safe ammunition. On the M1A "Loaded", I'm using the factory N.M. sights. This is for close-in shooting.
I also sighted in my Mark V, .300 Win Mag, zeroed at 300 yards, using 150 Gn Win Fail Safe. On the Mark V, I'm using a Leupold Vari-X 4.5-14X40. This is ready for the open bean fields.
The deer exit the woods at slightly over 1,000 yards. The Leupold is set to measure 600 yards. When the deer gets to 500 yards, the safety goes off. From that point in, they are easily within range. The longest shot I have made was 525 yards.
