Unfortunately, my CZ RAMI has recently been giving me problems where none had existed before. Even more unfortunate is the fact that it's my primary belt CCW. I've switched to my 642 and my full-size 75 for the time being, but I have to accept that my RAMI might be beyond hope.

I've already tried replacing the recoil springs (both the loose one and the captive one) and the ejector spring, but I still get random extraction failures. I had previously gone several thousand rounds with this gun with no problems, but started having FTExtracts (maybe once every one or two hundred rounds, depending on ammo, but it does it with all ammo and all mags). The only thing I haven't done is replace the extractor itself (a ~$30 part).

I could send it to CZ, but I'm afraid they wouldn't be able to fix it or even diagnose the problem - it doesn't FTE that often, you see, and I wonder if they would fire enough rounds make sure it was fixed.

I could order a new extractor, but it might not fix anything, especially if the problem is some sort of subtle timing thing.

I could sell the gun, but I'm not comfortable with just passing a problem on, especially when it could possibly endanger someone's life.

Any thoughts? What do you do when a trusted gun goes down?

had same problem with full sized 75

There is hope!

I ended up replacing the extractor and the spring and you are right the extractor is way more expensive than it should be. plus shipping. they said they would send me the parts for free but never did. Still ticks me off.

cured my ills though. my replacement extractor was noticibly different in dimension, finish etc. from the original.

oh and I lost the spring I got from cz so I bought the 3 pack from wolff. that may be another difference.

good luck -bevr

I have an Armscor P18 clone that was giving me failures to extract, a couple every 200-300 rounds with Aluminum Blazer or Steel cased ammo (was fine with brass cased ammo but I got it to shoot cheap). Armscor had no extractors in stock at the time but said they get them from Tanfoglio (sp? makers of EAA Witness) so I swapped the extractor from my 9mm Witness-P. Made no difference and the Witness never had an ejection issue with either. So I ordered a Wolff extra power extractor spring, put it in and have not had an extraction failure since!

If you replaced with a standand spring, give the extra power one a try. I assume you have checked the obvious like corrosion or fouling in the chamber and are not leaving oil in the chamber after cleaning -- don't think lube to reduce friction, think suction cup to prevent extraction.

Did you mean extractor spring not ejector spring?

Try the extra power one if you have not as the other poster mentioned.

Otherwise check for burrs on the extractor, in the chamber, or on the breechface. Also, try different magazines to make sure the feedlips are not open too wide causing some sort of extraction problem during the ejection cycle.

If you sell the gun, you would be morally obligated to tell the person of the problems and you will take a huge hit in value. I would try to fix it. If you come down next week for Thanksgiving, let me know or give me a call and maybe I can help you out with it.

A gun that has gone from being rock solid dependable to, well, not, is almost for sure going to be a simple fix.

In this case, it sounds like it's not ejecting properly, so first, carefully inspect the areas around where the ejector is installed for burrs. If you find any, just stone them out very carefully.
Then, don't go to the trouble of trying to diagnose the ejector itself, just replace it and the spring.

Those are about the only things that can go wrong to change the way a pistol ejects reliably so I'd bet a box of HydraShocks that doing those things will bring the pistol back to where you can depend on it again.

My cz75b ran great for 1000's of rounds then it started having extraction problems. Cz-USA sent me a new extractor and I also installed a wolf extra power extractor spring for insurance. My gun runs 100% again. Your gun should be under warranty, contact CZ-USA. Mark
