I'm sure the first gun for me was a Savage mod.24, O/U (22/410).
Still have that one and still hunt with it and plink with it.
First revolver was a S&W K-frame .22. My brother has the Smith now...Dad gave it to him just because I have a .22 revolver :(
whats up with that!? how it goes.
Mark.

The first gun I shot was an air pistol at age six. I never found out what kind it was.

The gun I learned on was a Crosman 1400 single-shot .22 caliber air rifle. It was still working until about 12 years ago and I started my oldest son shooting with it.

Single-shot Springfield .22 rifle. My dad gave it to me when I was turned eight. Still have it after all those years.

The first one was a handgun...

An H&R Sportsman Model 999, a 9 shot .22 topbreak with a 6" barrel. I was 4:D = Got pics:D :D Modified Weaver stance;)
Still got a 999 and shoot it often.
My first rifle wasn't till I was in Scout Camp, a Remington smoothbore .22 for what they called "MoSkeeto" shooting, clay birds at close range out of a hand trap.

Pistol: Ruger Mk II. Still love shooting it, amazing accuracy, talk about a tack driver. Parents said I couldn't have a gun while living at home so I got it when I left for college. ;)

Rifle: Friend's Yugo Mauser. Shoulder was sore for a few days but boy did I have fun :D

Praxis

410 shotgun and then i shot a .22 then a 243..sall in that order on the same day..man that was a great day.

First was when I was ten - a singleshot bolt .22 LR, J.C. Higgins, I think, on an outing with uncles and cousins.

The real learning came when I was eleven on the firing line of the Davey Crockett Junior Rifle Club at Fort Myer, Virginia, with a Winchester Model 75 Target. Does anyone still speak of pinwheels and snowballs?

Rimfire: marlin, tubular, bolt action
centerfire rifle: 30-40 Krag
shotgun: Marlin 16 ga bolt action
centerfire handgun: Colt 357 Trooper
rimfire handgun: H&R 949

1st gun I ever shot? Not including BB 'guns', probably my friend's 12ga pump shotgun (that was in February):uhoh: Learned to shoot on? Marlin Model 60.

The first gun I have any memory of shooting is a 9mm handgun. I was only like 6 or 7 or something like that. All I remember is my dad crouched down behind me helping me hold the gun steady.

Then I got a .177cal. BB gun from my grandmother when I was 10. Then a 16ga. when I was 12.

My Sig P229

I wanted to publicly acknowledge an excellent experience I had when I got my first gun.

I don't even remember why I bought it. None of my friends were interested in guns. My wife was skeptical. I just knew that me having one was one step closer to me being a free man.

I went to the nearest gun store, B & B Guns in North Hollywood. You really can't get any useful data from the gun mags, because every gun they review is "just awesome." I also hadn't thought about taking training at that point. So I warily put myself into the salesman's hands, hoping he wouldn't rip me off.

Turns out I got a pretty honest fellow. I didn't even realize until a few months ago that the store had been getting ready to shut its doors, and everything was cheap. All I told him was that I wanted .40 S & W. He recommended a brand new Sig P229 for a little over $500 (this was in 2000). He could've really impressed upon me the need for something pricier (and I was ready to plunk down more), but this gun really just works well for me.

I forgot his name, but if he runs across this post, "Thanks man."

I thnik the 1st gun I shot was a Winchester 30-30...WOW what fun that was! :D The gun I actually learned what I was doing on was a Beretta 92fs....I think that's why I still like'em ;)

Back about 1956 or 57 I attended a Hunter Safety Course with the Boy Scouts. I believe we took the Remington 514 that is in my closet now and a Stevens bolt action with the plunger cocking mechanism. The Stevens model name had some youth theme, but can't remember. We might also have borrowed a .22 cal target rifle with peep sight. I've been a sucker for peep sights ever since I saw the first one.

First handguns were a Ruger Standard probably MKII and a .38 sp of unknown manufacture.

First gun ever shot was an M16A2 in basic training. Then I moved on to a Beretta M9 in MP school.

First gun I LEARNED to shoot on was a my USP Compact .45 in police academy.

I dont remember for sure. My dad collected S&W handguns. It was probably that little black 22 revolver that spit lead in your face, forget what model it was but I dont think it was the K frame 22, cause we had a K-38 and the 22 was smaller framed. The K-38 was my fav. He also had a slew of 357's and a 29.

First SG would've been my bro's double barrel 12, forget make.

First rifle was either my bro's Nylon 66 or my dads Kodiak 22 mag.

Excluding BB and Air guns....

Granddaddy (Paternal Grandfather) taaught me to shoot on a .22lr Savage Bolt action Single shot.

Pop, (Maternal Grandfather) taught me to shoot on a Stevens double barrel .410.

Oddly enough the guns they gave me were somewhat reversed, Granddaddy gave me his Win. Mod. 42 Pump 410.
Pop gave me a Mod 99 300 Savage.

Rifle: Sears Model 2T -- .22 LR/L/S with 20" barrel

Handgun: Smith and Wesson Model 66 Combat Magnum Stainless .357 Magnum with 4" barrel

Can't recall the model, but it was my dad's lever action Marlin .22. A GREAT gun, and he still has it....I just got to shoot it again last Christmas.

The first handgun I learned to shoot with was a S&W Model 19 .357 Magnum shooting .38 Special ammunition. The first rifle I learned to shoot was a Marlin Model 60 .22lr.
