What will your next handgun be?

I always have my eye out for another good Ruger Speed Six .357 in either barrel length, a 3-1/16" .357 SP101 with a particularly good factory trigger, or an SP101 chambered in .22 LR in ANY barrel length. Yes, Rugers with good triggers do exist, if one has patience. So, there is a decent chance my next handgun will be a Ruger revolver, though I am looking more at a couple of rifles lately, so it may be quite a while.

If a good deal on an S&W K-frame chambered in .22 LR comes along, I may decide to go for it. Same for a particularly good pre-key-lock M19.

If I find an available .45 Colt New Frontier with a decent trigger and good lock-up, I will probably try to do what it takes to acquire it. Most I see are quite loose, even if fired very little. Colt had erratic QC for a while.

I also have an interest in a SIG P226, particularly if it has barrels for both .40 and .357 SIG.

I have my eye on a nice pre-owned Freedom Arms Model 97 chambered in .41 mag, at a local dealer. I nearly bought it a while back when it was new, but someone beat me to it. Now, it is back, after a trade; I recognized the distinctive serial number.

Hard to say because I'm such an opportunist. In an autoloader it might be Hk, SIG, or the new SA HDm, preferrably in .45 ACP, but there are some sweet 9mm there. Two SIGs come to mind that I hadn't really paid much attention to, the SIG SP2022 and the SIG P6 (German police P225) in 9mm. I grabbed two P6s, one carried a little and hardly shot and another not carried and shot, but probably awaiting issue before they were dumped for the replacement. They are an absolute joy to shoot. The other one was the now discontinued SIG Pro SP2022 in 9mm, probably the most underrated pistol SIG made. It is every bit as accurate and reliable as one coveted P228.

Wheel guns? Well, let me just say I have little resistance to a good deal in a pre-lock S&W. Right now, the S&W Model 624 in a 4" barrel makes me weak in the knees. It makes no sense for me to buy a .44 special, since that would be the only .44 caliber I would own. But it punches my want button as much as the toggle switches and burled wood on the dashboard of the vintage Jaguar. I need therapy.

Probably will be either a S&W 627PC or 629PC.(I want to own one Performance Center revolver) I am leaning toward the 629 because the 627 would be a little redundant to the 686+ I already have (.357 x 7 vs. .357 x 8). I think I would like to include a .44 to round out my group: 617-6" (.22LR), 642-2" (.38), and 686+ (.357/.38).

sigh...

assuming i ever have money to throw down on a firearm again, it'll most definitely be a dan wesson commander classic bobtail. i can't friggin' wait.

Done Deal~!

I just wrapped up the deal on the UNFIRED Smith & Wesson 3.5" barrel model
27-2 that I spoke of~! Its brand new in the mahogany presentation case
with the unused tools and doc's. Serial # begins with an N, and it cost me
an arm and a leg (Laughing Loudly :D:D:D) $600~! ;)

Add to this deal, a NIB Smith & Wesson 60-4 which is a .38 Special caliber,
3" HB "Chief's Special" with adjustable sights and target hammer and trigger;
+ special grips. Price on this baby, $300 OTD~!

got the cz p01 from other post now on to a blackhawk or a AK trying to get my hi-cap stuff squared up.

I suppose I sort of own it now, but I handed Ben Forkin an OM Blackhawk to convert to .44 Special, with a minimal barrel length, narrowed grips and some other goodies, so in my mind that is my anticipated "next one."

Mine is going to be a 4" Redhawk in .45 Colt.

I would have liked the S&W Mountain Gun version, but I don't feel comfortable with the prospect of running John Linebaugh's .45 Colt recipes through it.

I caught this thread just as I finished purchasing a PLR-16 on Gunbroker.

My next handgun is probably going to be a NAA mini to replace the one I sold.

If that doesn't count, I'm looking into getting an S&W 327 M&P R8, or a Magnum BFR in 30-30. Not sure which one yet.
