I've been trying to find out exactly what wood was used in the grips of an early 70's Single Six New Model .22 ? It looks like walnut, but I can't be sure, and didn't want to post that in an ad if it wasn't accurate.
The internet's been no help at all.
Any info is much appreciated.....

Ruger did use walnut early on, then went to goncala alves. If walnut, will be an even brown color, while the goncala varies from reddish to deep purple.

If you take the grips off, walnut usually shows that a stain was applied around the edges of the back side of the panels.

I had a Single Six back in the '70s and I'm pretty sure the grips were walnut.
