What's going on with the p365 SAS

I see that the gun on the right in the OP is not ported.

Can you get them non ported now? I’d be for that.

I’d check armslist.com as well, there’s a lot of shops on there that will ship to your FFL, you can select shipping in the filter when you search.

I have to say I was very pleased to see the Sig get rid of the large slide lock. Now streamlined. Cannot understand why "Mac" cannot figure out why they made this improvement. I like the Sig but it is going to have to be down the road when they finally get it all figured out. That first Gen striker spring looks like a total mess. I would say the way they keep tweaking this gun it will be at least another year before they are ready. I bet you see a completely new gun down the road.
I have shot them with the new sights and I hate them.

Didja catch the MAC gent when he said he had 5(!!) 365s and had to send back 2(or 3) of them..PLUS the SAS model??

Said he doesn't like Glock cuz they were a 'one trick pony'..yup, reliable, accurate, not expensive..yup, one(or 3) tricks..

Dog with Fleas..gotta remember that one..

I watched most of this video (fast forwarded thru parts of it). It mirrored my opinion of the SAS, specifically, including sights causing the gun to shoot left (I love my non-SAS P365). That porting is a complete gimmick. It blows crap all over the inside of the gun and makes a great lint trap. Plus, c’mon. This is a 9mm pistol. We need porting for this?

The one thing I’ve observed that he does not mention is that bullseye sight basically disappears in the dark. You can test this by holding the gun in the safe and start closing the door. The sight diminishes as available light diminishes. Seems like a dumb idea to me.

regular P365? Love it. SAS version? Absolute waste of money.

I will get flame for this, but anyway.
When SIG says there is no problem with an item, they don't recall it at all, they send it the market through liquidators for a cheap price and make a new one with another name (being doing for years now).
I will give it the benefit of the doubt because sight issue (get used to).
However, at the distance the video was shot sound like MAC never shot a firearm before.
MAC is not the issue is just the pistol, I wonder how he has several (5) being so poor in accuracy for carry.
Keltec its being doing reliable pistols for while in that size, for half price.
SIG it's been dedicated for a while to put new gizmos or frills than do reliable and accurate pistols.
Btw, I'm not affiliate to Keltec and never have one of their linage.
I currently have a 225, 226 and very happy with those anvils.

Well I finally got mine today (ported) and it is just fantastic as far as picking up a sight picture dark or well lit. It is certainly not made for target shooting but seems to do well enough within 15 yards. I'm glad I did not succumb to all of the anti-hype. I also have a couple of Taurus .357 ported snubbies and I love them. The fireball is dramatic!

Congrats Sharp Dog! Keep us informed how things work out down the road. I am sure the more you shoot it, the more you will get use to the sights.

So far it shoots about as well as I can (which is fair). I have 3 p365's so far, the original for pocket carry which sits in a Veddar kydex pocket holster and is my EDC, my p365 XL (for which I just got the Romeo Zero today yay!) which sits in OWB holsters from Huckleberry Tactical (link below and three thumbs up :what:) and the new p365 SAS which sits in a Maxpedition Remora in a velcro holster in which it does not snag like the other two p365's which have front sights.

In reality, the acquisition is a little faster than the 3-dot on the p365XL for example. Today it was so fast that at first, I did not realize the sight was on for a split second. Once I got used to it it became really quick. I think it also helped my p365XL acquitition as well.

BTW I got this from my LGS and paid extra to help them out.

Check out Huckelberry Tactical, great folks and a lot of great holsters. My holsters from them accommodate the p365XL with light/laser and the Romeo Zero.

As far as the Maxpedition Remora (soon to be discontinued) (think tactical man purse. I added a molle bottle carrier and sunglass carrier but ... let's face it, it's a man purse in 1000d nylon). There is room in the main compartment for those resealable containers that hold 2 slim-ish sandwhiches. There is an inside pocket nearest your body with a quick release that takes a velcro holster and mag holder. The p365 is is hidden in this pocket. The loop you see here is a belt loop. The holster (and gun) is hidden within the black mesh area. There is just enough room for a p365 (or XL) with a 15 rd magazine. You are limited by grip length andf not so much by bbl length.

This is the shoulder holster for when you do not want to be seen carrying a shoulder holster. Easy to leave in the car without undue attention.
