This is roughly what I have in stock that I'd consider HD rounds (not counting what I'd consider sporting shells).

Rem. Express Lead BB Shot - 2%;
Rem. Express Lead #2 Shot - 3%;
S&B Lite #4 Buckshot - 6%;
Rem. Sluggers - 6%;
Win. 3" Mag. #1 Buckshot - 8%;
Rem. 0 Buckshot - 8%;
Fiocchi & Nobel #4 Buckshot - 14%;
Win. 3" Mag. 00 Buckshot - 15%;
Win. #1 Buckshot - 16%;
Rem. (a few Win. & Fed.) 00 Buckshot - 23%

These are 12 Ga. 2-3/4" shells except where indicated. The lightest loads are the ones I keep loaded, initially...

Care to share?

Al

I only stock 2 types of shotshells. Rem 2 3/4" magnum 12 pellet 00 buck, and 3" magnum Remington/ Barnes solid copper sabot slugs.

All 12 guage. Sport loads not included.

55 rnds Winchester 2.75" 00 Buck
45 rnds Winchester 3" 00 Buck
15 rnds Remington 3" 00 Buck
10 rnds Remington 2.75" 00 Buck
10 rnds Remington 2.75" 1 oz. slug
5 rnds Federal 2.75" #4 Buck

68 rounds Federal 000
20 rounds Remington Slugger slugs
20 rounds Federal 00
10 rounds Fiocchi 00
10 rounds Mirage "Palla Solengo" Brenneke style slugs
4 rounds Fiocchi Aeroslugs

My shotgunning cupboard is pretty bare these days but then I have a lot more guns to shoot than I used to.

don't waste my time with HD loads for my shotguns. All mine are either very light sporting clay loads or heavy steel/lead hunting loads. I might have a few hundred 410 slugs laying around but they are for javelina not for HD.

just can't bring myself to wield a long gun for HD. To each their own.

Not sure about it all, but what I can see sitting on my closet floor are as follows;

350 rounds of 10ga BBB & T
100 rounds of each slug and buck. for 12ga., 16ga., & 20ga.
1000 rounds of 12ga # 7 1/2
750 rounds of 16 ga #7 1/2
500 rounds of 20ga #7 1/2
550 rounds of 28ga #7 1/2
175 rounds of .410 #7 1/2
75 Rounds of .410 #6
1000 rounds of non toxic waterfowl loads of assorted sizes for gauges; 12,16, & 20

Plenty'a target loads, a few dozen buck, and a box or two of slugs. I restock often, and don't get to burn through what I'd like to.

I'm a Western hunter by upbringing, where rifles rule the roost for big game. So when I got to Virginia, it was a real eye opener.

I fell in love with #1 as the ultimate compromise on pellet count, weight, and delivery WAY over 00. Both overpenetrate good-sized deer. But out to 70 yards, pellet count matters heaps. On autopsy, several deer were felled to pellets flattened by heavy bone that slid into vitals. As a guy who's used to killing deer with an '06, I was VERY impressed with buckshot on deer. Amazed, even.

For that reason, my buckshot is about 50% #1 and 50% #4, with a smattering of 00 around the house, and after that it's the usual dove/quail/grouse (6, 7 1/2) pheasant/chuckar/hunn (4s, 5s, and 6s), and waterfowl/turkey (2s, 4s, 5s) nontoxic heavy shot. And I always keep a few slugs around, too, but sheerly "police loads". In fact, I keep a bandoleer of mixed buckshot and slugs at the bedstand. 20 rounds of buck, five of slug. A shottie is my bedstand gun, and is loaded #1/slug/#1/slug/#4/#4 with rifle sights on an 18" smooth barrel. The shotgun is a great weapon, it is definitely my "go to" for most fights and game in most scenarios "inside the open".

I have had horrific luck with BB, 000, and 8 shot. These seem like an intermediary shot to me, that is likely contingent upon the choke used and the precision of the shooter/distance.

Without conducting an inventory, there's.....

Lots of 00. Besides a stash of "Old" Estate R/R, there's lots of Winchester and Federal stuff, a few stray rounds of Fiocchi,etc.

Some 0, 1, and 4 buck from divers makers. Testing stuff rather than duty, but one 870 here has a mag full of 4 buck. All 12 gauge, with a few 5 packs of 3 buck for the 20s.

Slugs up the wazoo. Rottweil and KO Brenekkes, a coupla hundred Winchester HP Forsters, close to that number of similar Feds, and some odd stuff I didn't shoot up in the Saiga. Some first gen S&S sabots may still lurk down there too. The 20 gauge has Rottweils and Remington Sluggers.

Bird loads from Hevishot 2s to 8s in both gauges. Not much target ammo on hand, I keep shooting it up as fast as the MEC makes it.

I like keeping stock on berenkke full bore diameter "sabot's" for my smooth bore. They are visually identical to what they call their "slug" but seem more accurate. I have the "slug" variant as well stocked up. I also keep stock on remington 12 pellet 2.75 magnum buck and to a lesser extent 8 pellet remington managed recoil buck. This load is more civilized for HD and patterns good. Shotgun isn't in home defense duty at time (revolver secured in locked box, kids). I also have 12 pack box"s of fiocchi tactical, remington HV slugs (fun at range) not sure what advantage these have but the report is interesting firing these indoor's. Various other mngd recoil slugs. No "sporting" rounds whatsoever.
