Anyone know what's up with U.S. Fire Arms? Some time back I became very interested in their 12/22 revolver. I read about a long quality struggle with a 12/22 on-line by someone who bought one brand new from USFA so I figured I would bide my time.

In the interim I have read where USFA discontinued their Lightning rifle and their Rodeo revolver. I also learned that they abandoned their Woodsman pistol project.

Now they have stopped producing the 12/22. I'm not sure if they will ever begin again nor not? As it is I'm wondering if the safe move is to settle for a Ruger Single Ten?

I sure would appreciate some advice from anyone in the know on USFA. Thanks.

You mean the same company that sells way overprice Single Action Revolvers under the Blue Dome.

Can't imagine why...
They haven't been under the blue dome for years...

I'm not sure how "overpriced" their arms were -- particularly when compared to Colts...

If you "can't imagine why", how come you still opined?

Guess you can assume if people don't buy a firearm because of price, support or quality they will not produce it.. They did sell some so guess it went to same way as most of there line. Gone. All about supply and demand only this might be the other way around.

Their production problems started quite a while ago. By that I mean, they couldn't keep up. They have suspened production on the "cheap" Rodeo" and the other nodels to take care of the demand for their high priced revolvers.

The USFA models are as good, if not better, than Colts. The attention to detail is what is causing the premium price. But you get a beautiful handgun.

Nobody's building guns under the blue dome, and USFA HAS been out of there for several years. :)

For those of us who don't know much (but would like to know) about USFA, what is the "blue dome"?

For a few years USFA was operating in the old original Colt factory building in Hartford, after Colt moved out.

USFA touted that in their advertising, their guns were built under the famous Colt blue roof dome.
But, long out of there. The building's been vacant since, part of a re-development plan for the area.

Assume?

How do you know they did not sell?

They are still producing their SA centerfire revolvers...

Colt's old factory complex known as Coltsville in Hartford, CT:

If memory serves when Colt went bankrupt in 1989/90, CT pushed very hard for anyone buying Colt to guarantee they would continue to produce firearms in this complex. That sacred away more than one potential buyer along with the UAW represented workforce.

kynoch How do i know they did not ?? They are not for sale for what ever reason. If they could produce them meaning they ether lost the skilled people to do so andmake money on them and produce in quanity and quality in them then be trouble free they would still offer. Like some better fuction more costly fireamrs like Freedom arms. What the heck does it matter if the handguns are not around just like when Colt was makeing some of the same models. Oh the orgininal models too.

What in the heck are you talking about?

Well what do you think is the reason there not make and selling some of the firearms that they use to. Maybe you can figure it out for your self. Personaly I could care less if there in busniess or not . They only made copies and are over priced at that.

As far as not working under the blue dome any more. I have heard, but cannot verify, that the reason they moved out of the old building is because their new machinery was vibrating too much and it was doing damage to the building and the dome.

Anyone really know if they are still making as many of their SA revolvers as they can?

That old building was simply too expensive to operate in. Imagine the energy bills. The dome is a reproduction made out of fiberglass. The real one is in a museum. The gov't is trying to turn it all into a park now. Good luck.
