The List;
S&W's 422 long barrel, 2206 short barrel and more recently a Model 17.
Tanfoglio Force 22 (Not available in the US )
Hi Standard Double 9- double action flip out 9 shot but looks like a SAA style gun.
Iver Johnson Sportsman - 9 shot break open action.
Of the lot my 422 has been my "go to plinker" of choice. But the newly acquired 2206 and model 17 are poised to make this battle for my affections a tough call. Suffice to say that the three top dog S&W's are not going anywhere without me any time soon.
The Double 9 is turning out to be a fun plinker now that I'm just ignoring that it has a double action mode and I'm just treating it as a 9 shot single action only. That and a new mainspring has made the trigger pull a lot more tolerantly light.
The Iver Johnson's top breaks is highly interesting but the grips look UG-LAY! ! ! ! But I'm hoping that with some new wood grips and some more mainspring fine tuning that this gun will be a winding shooter.
I enjoy the Smith Combat Masterpiece revolver, & the Colt Woodsman in the semi auto. Both pieces belong to my dad, & he lets me borrow, for long periods of time!
I've probably put more rounds through a Browning Buckmark Plus than any other .22 handgun, but I also very much like my somewhat rare Ruger SP101 (4" full underlug) DA and Ruger Single Six (5.5" barrel) SA revolvers. The latter is particularly fun in .22 WMR. I don't think I can pick a "favorite."
The prettiest is the Browning Medalist. The one I shoot is the Smith 41 with Ultradot and Herritt custom stocks. My wife's Woodsman Match Target is very nce too.
I voted for semi-autos and I love my Buckmark to death, but I still have fond memories of sitting on the porch with my Grandpa at his cabin shooting his RG66 at wildflowers when I was 4 or 5. My dad now has the pistol but I found one local with a nice drop-leg holster I couldn't pass up. I still like to shoot it every now and then, even though it has to be the loudest .22 I've ever shot.

half the fun is owning more than one
Beretta Modlel 87 Cheetah. They are twice the price now as when I bought mine. Very acccurate and lots of fun. Bonus can be cocked and locked like my 1911s
Until last week, the S&W 22a was the only .22lr handgun that I owned. I picked up a Chiappa 1911-22 though so now there are two. Haven't had a chance to shoot (or even take a picture of) the Chiappa. Here's the S&W:
