My Zastava bolt action carbine.

You know I have "built" some fairly impressive 10/22s and I have shot some REALLY nice Anschutz guns but when it's all said and done.....

I really dig my CZ452s. I dunno. They just have a certain soul for me if you will. They certainly are not the worlds best .22 in any single regard but all in they make pretty compelling package as far as accuracy, reliability, build quality, price etc. are all concerned.

I have too many that I have not yet shot to declare a favorite. Once I've fired them, it will probably be my Henry lever... or my Marlin 25. No, I'd bet it will be one of my Marlin 99M1 rifles. Or, it could be the Glenfield 75. Or maybe...

I do have a 10/22 from 1987 that has been a great firearm. In 2011, I bought into the "tacti-cool" craze and dressed it up with some Tapco gear. It's still a lot of fun at the range, though.

My most impressing .22 rifle, though, is (believe it or not) my Mossberg 702 Plinkster. For the $99 I paid for it new, it is an amazingly-reliable, lightweight little gun that hits right on out to the 25 yards I've tried it to. Haven't been able to get it outdoors to anything further, though. For a great, all-around .22 pack or trail rifle, or even for the person using a .22 rifle for home defense, it's a hard value to beat.

For nostalgia a Win 75 with a Looong Litschert 10x scope.
For pure pleasure my peep sighted Zastava bolt
For speed and accuracy in the same package my 10/22 LVT

My current favorite is my last AR pistol project.

I have been using a .22 conversion kit with it. It runs perfectly. Not match grade accurate, but a fun plinker. Good practice too.

Marlin Model 39 with a Williams receiver sight on top has to be my "favorite". Close behind is a Remington Model 504 with a Nikon "Prostaff" 4x scope mounted to it. Both do everything I'll ever want from a .22 rifle meant for hunting.

I have quite a few .22 rifles, and they all have their good points, but there are two that make me go "Ah!" whenever I pick them up: a CZ 452 Trainer and a 1970's-era Winchester 9422. Of course they both shoot great, but it's more than that: It's about how they look and feel, and even how they smell (as weird as that might sound).
