In the land of make believe.
Just wanted to see what everyones favorite Compact pistols are. Specifically their CCW ones.

Please explain what you carry and why you carry it. I am curious as to what others carry.

I myself enjoy the P2000 and plan to carry it once I move to a free state. It is a nice size and carries 12 rounds of .40. I enjoy the ergos as well as the LEM trigger.

ETA: I forgot to put Kahr pistols on. My apologies to Kahr carriers out there.

Left mine out...

Taurus MilPro PT745 in stainless. 20oz unloaded, great grip, beautifully made, accurate, and extremely thin...especially for a .45!

I like my Taurus PT145

Looked at the pt745, liked the wider grip for my large hands, so went with the PT145 instead. A narrow gripped single stack 10mm would be ideal, but I'm kinda bent on the 10mm cartridge of late. I don't have a compact model and don't consider the S&W 10x6 models too compact, but they are heavy.

I voted for the Ruger. My P345 isnt to compact, but for a 45, its light and has a narrow grip. I carry a Kel-tec P11, for the size, and 11 round capacity. My Ruger carries nice, but at half the weight, ill stick with the P11, until winter.

I noticed that you listed some of the subcompacts like the Walther P99c.

So if subs are fair game.......

You left off the G26/27/33 baby Glocks which are excellent.

You also left off my current favorite the HK2000SK:

I love my Kahr P9 in a bladetech iwb or uncle mikes cheapie iwb for quick errands.
It is loaded with 147grain Federal HST.
It is very light and thin and accurate.

It has got to be my Cz-P01 who gets the vote on this one. The rest is in order of preference after the P01.

- HK USP
- Steyr SA1
- Glock 26

My daily CCW is a CZ-75D PCR. Its a compact 9MM with a alloy frame. Similar to the P-01 but without the light rail.

I have three guns I carry on a regular basis. Which one depends on the method of carry dictated by dress/occasion/weather. They are a FM 95 "Detective" High Power, Kahr K9, and a S&W 642 w/CT lasergrips.

Another Taurus PT145

carrier here. However currrently is is in the gunsmiths for removal of a broken rear sight screw which I broke off trying to install a set of Trijicon sights so I'm stuck with carrying my Glock 30

1911

I've a compact 1911 (STI LS40) that is my going to town pistol.

I like 1911s for carry and handling. You can place the web of your hand between the hammer and the back of slide when reholstering or whatever as yet another safety step to eliminate unwanted discharges.

I'm kinda puzzled why so few CCO sized pistols are made.

Kahr PM9, no question.

Now if you were asking about "sub-sub compact", then my Kel-Tec 3AT all the way.

Before any naysayers get started, both of these guns run flawlessly for me. If I had the problems others report to have, then I wouldn't choose them.

Until Glock makes something in these size classes, they are IT.

Another PT145 Taurus here.
Small, light weight, very dependable. A very good shooter.
It also holds 10 rounds.

Day-to-day, a FEG PA63, 9x18mm, 7+1. I've also got several Makarovs, a Polish P64 for subcompact, and a CZ-82.

In the full-size arena, CZ52, 1911, and Walther P1/P38.

I give my nod to the G30. Most accurate gun I've ever shot. 10+1 of .45 ACP in a small package that accepts the 13 round mags. What more could you ask for?:what:

It's not as compact as others, but my favorite compact is the Glock 30 - 10+1 rounds of .45ACP is a good thing.:D

My next favorite is the Heckler & Koch P7M8 - it is very carryable, but the problem is that it's not .45ACP...:(

Stainless Les Baer Stinger in .45 ACP in a Milt Sparks VMII.

It has an Officer’s grip length with a Commanders slide so it's pushing the envelope of "compactness", but it shoots like a “big” gun.

At 33 ounces it’s heavier than most of it’s “Tupperware” counterparts, but I figure I can always either use it as a blunt object or throw it if need be. It even digests my somewhat questionable 200 SWC reloads based on ancient liberated GI brass that I’ve loaded a bunch of times. As a matter of fact, so far it's digested everything I've tried in it.

I like my 3 inch XD .40 S&W subcompact.

I voted for the 4 inch XD, but I carry the 3 inch .40 S&W subcompact with me everywhere and I love the lasermax and night sights. I don't feel undergunned in anyway. Usually, I have Federal 155 grain hydrashoks, or Corbon 165 grain JHP. It should do the job quite nicely if needed.

Currently it is between the P2000 (.40), the CZ RAMI (.40) or a Beretta 8000L (9mm).

The HK is near-perfect, only a long trigger pull (LEM) keeps it from being a clear-cut winner. The RAMI could be a great sub-compact - if it proves reliable enough. The 8000L is a contender 'cause it is compact yet handles really well in 9mm.

I like the P2000's ambi slide and mag release, great sights, ultra-reiability, grip & feel, size. I imagine an SK in 9mm would be real sweet - but $$$!!! I think the heavy slide over the polymer frame is a slight counter to shootability/recoil control.

I like the RAMI's small package and incredible shootability for such a package - actually feels better to shoot in .40 then the HK. The .40 shoots OK, but in 9mm it just might be ideal. Sights are typical - decent, as are controls. Thumb safety should be BIGGER!

The Beretta is...well - a Beretta. DA/SA is typical +/-, reliability is top-notch. Shoots sweet cause its a 9.
