What are your favorite hammer-fired compact pistols....

Ones I own personally are a SIG P6, P239 SAS Gen2, P228, M11-A1, HK P2000, Ruger SR1911 Commander length, and a CZ P-01

For just 99 dollars, the Remington RM380 has to be pretty high up on the smile/cash ratio scale:

I have to give the nod to my Sig 238. Reliable, a pleasure to shoot, and carries so easily, I've forgotten it was there.

My runner up is my Mauser HSc. I love that thing! It gives over 100fps more velocity than the 238 with the same ammo, and I don't mind at all the blowback style recoil. (Snappy)
But with the euro style heel mag release, and the backwards safety, it'll never again be in my #1 spot.

I also like the Rohrbaugh R9 - not because its fun to shoot, because it is not fun to shoot, but because it disappears in a front pocket, and it is light enough that I can carry it every day in business or business casual attire.

Of the hammer-fired pistols I own it would be the SIG P229 if we are calling that "compact". I consider it more to be a mid-size pistol. Second place would go to by Beretta mini-Cougar 8040F and third place to my Beretta mini-Cougar 8000D, but again, I consider those to be mid-sized by today's criteria.

Of the hammer-fired pistols I own that I would consider to be truly compact, my favorite is my SIG P250 subcompact.

I was thinking the same thing about my guns but then I figured most of them (like the Combat Commander, Commander, P229, and P01), were smaller versions of a full size gun so that qualified them as being compact.

The Colt Officers Model ACP has been a solid performer fro quite some time with a definite preference for 185 gr. loads. Typically you will find the Beretta Model 70S in my bag on nearly every trip I make to the range. Part plinker, part target gun and all fun!
