Who owns "pairs" of pistols: big and small, short and tall??

Not really pairs but I liked my first Ruger Blackhawk so much, I bought 2 more.
One of them is a 7.5" in .45 Colt and I do plan to get one with a shorter barrel as well. That's kind of what you're talking about.
 
I have quite a few pairs of calibers, but only one pair of a particular model gun--Colt 1911's, a Series 70 and a Series 80. I didn't deliberately do this; the second one was just too good of a bargain to pass up, especially since it came with a factory .22 LR conversion.

It was a blast (no pun intended... well, not entirely). Recoil wasn't that bad actually, not that much stouter than a .45 1911. Lots more concussion though, and it was always the most fun to shoot near dusk, because then you could easily see the basketball-sized fireball with each shot.

How was the reliability? Did it jam up a lot?
 
I sort of collect the Colt Series 70 guns. That includes standard models as well as gold cup flavors. When I see one I want I mention to my wife I want to buy that gun and she always replies "do you have one of those" and I reply I have similar but not that serial number. :) Last I looked I have about a dozen of them but only one is a 38 Super and I still want to find a 9mm which is clean and like new in box. Revolver wise my only duplicate is a pair of S&W Model 17 guns and while similar there are a few subtle differences.

Glock 43,26,19,34, plus 30s,21,and 41 for autos.

Ruger LCR, SP101, Speed Six, and a GP100, all .357 magnum for the wheelguns.

Not to mention a Kriss Vector in both 9mm and .45, and a Ruger 77/357 :)

Sure. Mag Research released the L5 a couple of years ago. It's a "lightweight" aluminum framed gun with a ported 5" barrel.

Recoil is a little snappier, more straight back, where the full sized MK-XIX feels like a slow rolling motion in recoil by comparison.
 
Used to buy "pairs" of handguns all the time. Have a friend who died and he had two nephews that he was very close to. They seemed to be interested in firearms and I promised my late friend that I'd do my best to look after his wife, so I'd buy each of the nephews a handgun for birthdays or Christmas. After several years I came to realize that neither of the nephews really cared about firearms or their late uncle or his wife, so I quit. Still have the urge once in a while to buy a "pair" when I see an especially nice set.
 
I've got several 1911's, including a pair of SA RO's, .45 and 9mm, had a glock once but the 1911's and CZ threw it out of the safe so I got rid of it.
