Where do I attach my "tactical" sling?

I've a 870 w/ wood stock and forend. I recently put a Choate 2-round extension on it. It came with a sling mount built into the extension bracket. Where should I attach the other end? Around the grip of the stock, put a mount on the bottom of the stock grip, buy the sling mount that fits between the receiver and the stock? I've heard of all three methods, but have failed to find any good photos of attachment configurations.

I'm using a single point that wraps around the stock right now. It works, but it hangs really akward when I transition to pistol or something. All of my buddies swear by the single point method, so they're no help. Single point is fine for my AR, but I think I want a two point for my shotgun. Am I over thinking this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have and prefer the single point sling because when I use it, it's not for an extended length of time. If I had to carry my shotty for an extended period, I'd likely go with the two point.
If all you had was a standard type sling, I'd attach one end on the bottom of the pistol grip and the other end to the extension just as you've mentioned.
This method of carrying (upside down and backward on off-gun side) seems very comfortable to me and allows fairly easy and quick transition from long gun to sidearm and vice-versa.
Should be easy to do since you have the wooden stock.

Thanks for the reply J-T-T.

Do you know of a two-point method that allows for carry in the "ready position"? Would I need one of those bungee cord Mamba slings?

I may just stick with the single point, because as you said, I'm not wearing it for an extended period of time. I'll just learn to deal with it.

With my single point on a shotgun I prefer a DD burnsed loop in between the stock and the receiver.

I've tried to use a two point on my 870 but even with a sling mount front and back I can't get it to work well for me in a "tactical" way in regards to the two point.

Single point is the only way that I can figure out w/ the shotgun.

I took an Awerbuck shotgun class last year and ran a simple (two point) carry strap during the class. I'd taken a previous shotugun class with a single point (mounted on an Daniel Defense burnsed loop, incidentally :) ) - but I generally prefer a carry strap on a shotgun. After reading Lee Lapin's excellent review of the Awerbuck course and briefly discussing the two-point he ran, I decided to give it a shot.
[Lee's review is here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=202292&highlight=awerbuck]

To run a standard carry strap in a "ready" position, I first extend the sling to its maximum length. Then, with the muzzle depressed to the support side leg, I slip my head and support side arm through the sling and lay the gun across my chest. The gun falls into a natural 'ready' position and the muzzle is safely averted outside the support side knee. When mounting the gun, as Lee says: "the support side arm slides outside the sling when the gun comes up, leaving the sling around the neck only, and goes back inside the sling as the gun goes back down."

I ran the gun without problem in this fashon during the entire class. Smooth mounts did take me some practice, because the sling would occassionally hang up on the support side arm. A longer sling would probably help here, but it wasn't a significant problem. On the plus side, the gun was kept sung to my body and held in a consistent place, as compared to a singlepoint. I should note that I use a side plate sling mount on my mag extension, which probably helps keep the gun properly oriented when carried this way.
