I'm wanting to find the Revolution stock below [not in take down version]. Are these still being sold anywhere?

I'm wanting to build up a target rifle with my Thompson 10/22 clone, but it really kind of hinges on being able to find one of these stocks in the grey laminate.

I haven't seen that stock before, but I like it. If you do find one post the info here. I might be interested too. I'll look around and if I find anything will post details here.

Will do. It is the best wood stock I've seen. Too many of them are overly designed......or try to be too tacticool.

I am disappointed that the stock pictured above is apparently no longer produced. For basic stocks, I think it looks the best. A shame.

Is there any options that look similar? I like the grey laminate and the checkering.

@Orion8472 - what do you dislike about the Boyd’s Rimfire Hunter? It’s available for the 10/22 in grey/black laminate (“pepper”) with at least 3 types of checkering options.

It is my next choice,....but unfortunately they don't have any ability to see the wood before purchasing. It's a gamble for ~$250. And I've seen some not so stellar example of laminated wood. The one I pictured in the OP is what I'd like.

Boyd’s doesn’t make their laminates, they simply duplicate stocks from supplier materials. If you’re looking for a black and grey laminate stock, you’re running the risk of getting whatever you get from whomever you get it. Maybe some makers will let you request a darker product if they have it, or just cancel your order if they don’t, but these stock makers aren’t making their own laminate blanks. They get what they get.

Yeah...and that's the problem. When they cost what they do, it's hard to "play the Gacha game".

I'll figure something out. There IS one on ebay that will kind of work, but it isn't checkered.

I think I might like the design a bit better of the Revolution Explorer stock. But still, it isn't as good as the one I included in the OP. Unfortunately, I can't fine one of these checkered.

The only other thing I can do is "hope for the best" with the Boyd stock,...hoping the wood tone isn't what I don't like...because I bet it would be hard to send it back.

No harder than putting it back in the box and scheduling contract pick up. They have a standard restocking fee on returns without obvious damage or mistake of their fault. That’s the risk we take if we’re going to try to play the odds on inconsistent products. I’ve done well by calling to ask for a certain color, and the reps have confirmed I would get what I wanted, or admitted that they didn’t have the specific color shade I wanted (the “blaze” orange color can be school bus yellow or deep blaze/hunter orange, I want the latter).

Ordering the stocks unfinished then finishing with several rubbed and heated coats of tung oil can also improve the color depth and darken the stock compared to their standard spray polyurethane. Another option you have.

I thought about seeing if they would send it unfinished, and I would finish it myself. Then I can make it as dark as I'd want. That's good advice, Varminterror.

So,...turns out that you cant purchase the stock, with checkering, and unfinished.

Has anyone heard of Richard's Microfit Stocks? Any comments on these? I kind of like the Wolverine Style.

Richards Microfit stocks are great - but not finished. Unlike Boyds', who offer completely finished stocks as standard, Richards ALWAYS require considerable finish work, purposefully so. You will have to do the finish inletting, finish sanding, and all polishing and sealing/finishing/coating/oiling.

I bought a Richards Microfit stock 6 years ago. It's still unfinished because I don't know if I have the ability to finish it. The good thing is that it's a beautiful piece of wood.

Oh! I didn't know it required so much finishing. I don't have that kind of equipment. Thanks for the info, guys!

Looks like I'll be stuck taking a chance with the Boyd.

I purchased the Boyds stock, checkered. I can only hope I like the tone of the grey and the grain pattern.
