2000 model Marlin ,44 Magnum. Crisp bore. Stunning excellent condition. Truly shot less than 300 rounds. Box, papers.
By the time the big reference books of values hit the market they seem outdated. The online auction sites don't list any I could find.
Thanks as always.

Well you may be in luck for at least on piece of evidence of real world value. I was in the LGS the other day when a 2007 model 1894SS sold for $1100 before tax.

Found this on the internet for a blued version currently on sale for $1500

I should also add this rifle had no box and was in darn nice condition but not perfect.

Checking "funbroker".com for completed auctions searching for "Marlin 1894SS" I found five listings within the last couple of months.
Low of $1331, high of $2325.
The $2325 rifle and another at $1700 appear to be reasonably close to what you are describing.

I sold mine to my cousin last year for $1100. But that was a family deal. I'd only paid $500 for it back in 2009.

Gunbroker is probably the best resource to look up firearm values. I would say better than the NRA's Blue Book. You can often find what auctions for the same rifle sold for. You have to search in "Advanced" and in the "Completed items" with a login. But it is free if you don't have one already.
