OK friday I took pictures of two friends for their IL FOID card with my digicam. When we went to Walmart to print out the pictures, I ask the lady at the photo counter to resize the photos to what we need, she said that Walmart doesn't do that anymore. We ended up going to Walgreens, getting 12 "ID" pics printed and then cutting them to size.

Funny thing is, Walmart DID this for me 5 months ago, TWICE!.

I know some gun shops will take your pictures, but this was around six in the evening.

Yeah, I was gonna say Walgreens because they do the passport size photos. Those photobooths just don't exist anymore.

Local shop here charges $6.00 to do it. That's not bad compared to how my buddy got ripped off. The shop charged him $25 for the picture, but they did send the application in for him including the fee.

Those photobooth still exist in certain K-marts and I believe Wal-marts do too. Or you can get one wherever they take passport photos.

Last couple times I needed to renew I went to a license place (one of these places that handles license plates, title transfers, etc.). They handled the whole thing, pictures, form, notarizing, mailing it in, etc. for, I think, $15.

Thanks guys. I'm due to take more photos of people for thier FOID card. This time I won't zoom in as close when I take them. Then I'll have the machine print out "ID" type pics which are still to big, but I can then cut it to size.

If those photo booths were still around this would be alot easyer. A friend of mine printed his out himself, but I don't have that kind of printer.

I used a digital camera to do mine and resized and cropped as needed. This time, I also added a small finishing touch:

When dad had his gun shop, he used a Polaroid. When he stood about ten feet away, the person's head and shoulders were sized perfectly when he cut the picture down to size with a razor blade.

When they had those I-something cameras that made small stickers and printed them immediately (I-Zone?) they worked really well, since the small stickers were exactly the right size.

Jeff says that soon they'll just start using the Secretary of State driver's license photos, so you won't have to worry about finding a photo. Of course, that will make dumb gestures like mine impossible, too, but oh well. I'll have it for 5 years. By that time, a FOID may be more like a CCW.
