Where to go Hunting (without having to take the safety course)?

I'll echo that a Hunter Safety Course is always a good idea.

It sounds like your best bet is to hunt exotic animals. Licenses are generally not required and the business takes care of all your needs. The bonus is that you get an interesting trophy. Florida has many places where you can do this without a license.

Once you have the time to get a safety card, I highly recommend applying for a permit to hunt Sanbar Deer at St. Vincent National Wildlife preserve area. This hunt is on an Island near Apalachicola, Fl and offers you the chance to take a record book Sannbar deer. It is typically 3 days and you stay in a primitive camping area. Weapons are limited to black powder or archery. It's a interesting oportunity to take a 400 + pound animal.

I agree, first and foremost.

Just last week, however, a hunter was killed in New York State by his buddy, who thought he was a deer. Apparently he shot into a bush because he detected movement, which was his buddy find personal relief. Certainly the shooter took the hunter safety course and was exposed to the concept of "know your target and what's beyond," but it didn't prevent this entirely preventable accident.

Yes, hunter safety courses are a good idea---there are no statistics indicating how many accidents they prevent---but common sense trumps all.

Lot of you don't seem to realize how difficult it can be to get a hunter safety card in a state you don't live in.

But one doesn't need a hunter safety card for another State. There is 100% reciprocity between the 50 States. Ergo the earlier comment about igloos on the Georgia test. A Hunter Ed card from any State will serve in any other.

You can't even get tags in Ca. if you haven't got your hunters safety course .so do what everyone has to!!! It might save your own life.Maybe you have to change your dates to comply with the law!!

Regarding the Igloo question. In order for Western States and Alaska to recognize a class you took in Alabama we are required to cover survival techniques you may need if hunting out of state.

So Alabama instructors are now teaching Alaska survival techniques? So you're giving them tips on igloo's? Sorry I just got a big chuckle out of that.:D

Does Alaska have a question about surviving rattlesnake bites and avoiding alligator holes?
