So I have a CMP Garand...a real cherry one too. Service grade, 1939 manufacture (5-digit) Springfield Armory. Metal is in great condition, NM op rod, 2 ME. I thought I was fine with just having one.
Of course, once the CMP ran out of them, I started jonesing to get another one but wasn't going to pay gun show/gun shop prices (usually $850+ for a rat trap old beater). So when the email came from CMP this weekend that they had just received a "sizeable" shipment, I got the paperwork together and sent off my order for another one. They suspect 3-6 month wait but, no matter...I'm in queue.
Other reports I've seen put the shipment at between 80K - 110K rifles. Hopefully they'll still have some next July when I make my annual pilgramage to the North Store to pick out one more for myself...maybe a different manufacturer this time. Of course, maybe they'll have some more M1 Carbines out by then as well. I can do a two-fer.
