Apex sells three kits for the M&P .45.

APEX 45 Fully Machined Sear (Hard Sear) M&P $39.95

APEX 45 Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit (DCAEK) $89.95

Forward Set Sear And Trigger Kit $159.95

Which one is the most common kit? Is there a reason why I would not want to install any of these kits? This will be primarily be used on the range, for home protection and as a hunting sidearm. I don't plan on using it as a CCW. Would the stock trigger ever improve on its own over time with regular use close to what one of these will do immediately, or is one of these kits the way to go?

I don't know about the .45, but the different parts do different things. I believe the FSS is more for competition.

On my 9, I got:
Fully Machined Sear and Striker Block (to smooth the pull)
D/CAEK (to tune the pull weight)
RAM (to help with the reset)
AEK Trigger (because the hinged trigger is god-aweful)

Look at what is in each kit, and what each kit says it's for.

I was wanting to get some feedback on what results people are seeing from the kits or if they had found significant improvement over time with the stock trigger and are now satisfied with their trigger. Mine is very hard and gritty with poor reset and very long travel. Not fun to shoot right now.

Go with the DCAEK. That will give all the pieces (including the hard sear) needed for a better trigger pull without lightening it too much, which may be a liability problem if you plan to use the gun for any type of defense.

The FSS and Competition AEK kits are great (I'm running the Apex Competition AEK kit in my M&P 9), but they're geared more towards competition than carry. With the trigger as light as it gets with these I wouldn't feel comfortable using the gun in anything but a range environment.

Okay, so for my story...I bought an M&P knowing I would at least replace the trigger (I hated the hinged trigger). I got some advice from 9mmEpiphany on this forum as to what each part would do.

Here are the issues I had, and what fixed it:
Problem 1: the trigger pull was spongier than Patrick Star's best friend, and felt like there was sand in the trigger. This is fixed by getting the machined sear and striker block. These made a world of difference, it is a very smooth pull now.
Problem 2: there were about seven "clicks" during reset, none of them felt different from the others. I think the sear/block helped a bit, but the RAM really helped here.
Problem 3: I hated the hinged trigger, so the AEK (not the FSS) trigger helped.

Overall, it fixed really every problem I had with the trigger, and made it go from the worst trigger on any of the striker autos I've fired (by far) to the best (by a bit). It's not a 1911, but it doesn't require a manual safety.
